Exclamation What Americans really think about Turkey's Afrin (Syria) Operation ?

Hi,

These days in Turkey, people really think that US government back-stabbed us, (Turks) for supporting PYD - Kurdish groups in Syria.

Since Turks (So do I) really think they are directly connected with PKK terrorist organization that killed more than 30.000 people since 1987.

After Turkey's 15 July 2017 failed military coup - Both NATO allies are at odds. US government rejected to extradite Fethullah Gulen - Islamic Cleric who is at the back of coup attempt.

And last 3 months Trump administration has been arming PYD and has been supporting military training the Kurds.

Turkey has about 912 km border with Syria and civil war directly affected Turkey since more than 3 million Syrian refugescame and settled my country.

(I am sure, If same thing happened in USA, Trump would become crazy)

On the other hand, European Union promised Turkey to send 7 billion dollars aid to help Turkey about Syrian refuges. But, they did not keep their words! Our government paid 13 billion dollars for them to have better living conditions. Any way, they are uneducated, poor and can't speak our language.

Anyway, US supported PYD/YPG (fairly terrorist groups for us) have taken control of whole part of Northern Syria, they have been trying to create Kurdish cantons over oil rich regions where 3 million Syrian refuges come from to my country.

Therefore, we had to attack and take Afrin from PYD/YPG, and our jets started to bomb area and our army joined battle. They are using American Weapons against our army.We hope to wipe out PYD/YPG from Afrin region and settle Syrian Refuges as they are the real owners of region.

Our whole nation is very upset and disappointed for your big support for PYD/YPG. Trump administration acts dumb about their connection with PKK.

We have been fighting against both ISIS and PYD/YPG right now.
it seemed that Turkey and US are allied powers!

What are your opinions ? Is it fair ?

Perhaps we also need to hear the Kurdish point of view?

That would be a description of the situation from a Kurd, not a Turk.

Yes, you avoid to answer.

It is something like to say we have to listen North Koreans. (If a scenario, an American ally starts to support and to sell weapons to North Korea)

PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by USA and European Unions. You know it very well.

Anyway you chose wrong partners in the region. You backstabbed us. it doesn't matter we are both NATO country about 20 years China will be World's main economic power and absolutely Americans will pay all the wrongs of Trump administration.

No we have 14 milion Kurds in our country. 1 milion of them live in Istanbul in peace also we had many ministers and presidents having Kurdish origin.

This is really - irrelevant question. Trump administration knows what YPG/PYD is.

Last time I checked, I am not the Trump administration.

Have the Kurds not faced brutal repression by the governments of Turkey, Syria, and Saddam Hussein?

Has their very ethnic identity not been denied by Istanbul?

Identity is so deep concept.

According to our constitution, every citizen of Turkey was accepted as "Turk" but this has no ethnic definition.

In France, every citizen is accepted as French. That's the same.

If you look the history, the Europeans always called people of Anatolia as "Turks" even Ottomans were not only ethnic Turkic People. All the Sultans and the janniseries had different nationalities, but all of them were always called as "Turks" by Europeans. So this is a historical definition of people in Anatolia, name of the people.

Turkic tribes arrived Anatolia about 11. century from Central Asia. They mixed with People of Anatolia - Eastern Romans (especially local Greeks) and occurred Turkish People.

Common language shift generated Turkish language which is too different from language of Kazakh, Kyrgyz or Uzbek people. Genetically we are so close to Greeks and South Italians rather than people of Central Asia.

But Kurds as they were nomadic people until mid 20 century. They did not became key role of this historical composition since they were actually from Persia (Iran). They became settled in Central Anatolia about beginning of 19. century.

But anyway, ethnic Kurds can speak Kurdish as well as they want freely. We had many Kurdish ministers and president of republic.

About 4 years ago, Turkey supported to Kurdish Language courses, but Kurds themselves did not attend the Kurdish Language courses. So they were closed one by one - lack of interest.

If they were educated and rich people as well as Catalan people of Spain. I would be in favor of autonomous Kurdish regional government in East like Catalonia. They have about 18 million population, half of them live in Western and Central Turkey to have better life. They are poor and uneducated, this is the reality. Barcelona gives Madrid 15, takes back 4. But Diyarbakir give Ankara 2, and takes back 100. Use of illegal electricity about 70% in cities - Hakkari, Mus, Cizre. People in west, pay the taxes but east benefit from it.

Personally I would full independent support Kurdistan if they all go back their original geograpy (southeastern Turkey). But Kurds themselves don't want to leave from here. They want both Kurdistan state and benefit from Turkey. Trust me Kurdish families have at least 5 children on average with lack of education and financial power. Some of them have more than 10. If one day, you wish to visit East of Turkey, you would see that with your eyes.

2 years ago PKK leader demanded Turkey, a non-self-sufficient Kurdish autonomous state and tax immunity for 18 million Kurds to stop PKK teror. Is this acceptable ?

What are we supposed to do ? So constitutional definition is better. If they are really self-sufficent, this privilege may be supported.

We are at very bad geography, near Iraq, Syria, Iran... I am so jealous of place of Norwegians.

Ask the Armenians how they felt when they were treated as "Turks"...

Oh, wait, you can't, they were exterminated.
