Have you noticed the lack of discussion on this historic struggle? Sure, there are chats here and there but nothing on the magnitude that imbroglio deserves. Why is that?

I think it is because the lines are murky and not easily placed into the tribal context of American political "discourse." It is hard to say "Obama bad" or "Obama genius" when it is simply not clear whether or not what he has done fits either narrative.

I think the bloggers have the same problem the White House has. Nobody knows which side will end up on top in the end, and they're a little afraid they might say something they'll regret later. They can't say, "You should back Mubarak" because what if he stays in power and it's horrible? They can't say "You should back the anti-Mubarak" because what if they succeed and it's horrible?

I'm starting to get the impression, though, that the FOX bunch really think the US should step in and manipulate the situation to our liking. In other words, they want us to act exactly like the puppet master that our Islamist enemies portray us as.

I don't really watch Fox but judging by the rhetoric of those who do, they are pushing "caliphate" awful hard.

It occurs to me that there are parallels to Iraq's Islamic Republic and the Sadrist movement -- and that's in a country that we spent a lot of blood and treasure to liberate.

My wife and I were talking today about how people seem to be uninterested in the Egyptian revolution. Or not as interested as they should be.
