Is anti-Zionism the same as anti-Semitism?

Is this a loaded question? Yes.

Just as, according to some, expressing disgust with America is not the same as being anti-American, expressing hatred for Israel is not the same as anti-semitism.

The state of Israel exists. Every person who supports those terrorists who attack Israel also support the terrorists who attack the US.

Zionism - n.Â*Â*a movement formerly for re-establishing, now for advancing, the Jewish national state of Israel.

I would suppose an anti-zionist opposes the exisitence of israel.

Antisemitism - n. prejudice against Jews, dislike or fear of Jews and Jewish things.

One could easily argue that Jews, per se, don't have any inherent right to an ethnicly based national state, not when the territory for that state was ceded by a fading colonial power which possessed no intrinsic right of it's own to grant the land already occupied by an ethnicly distinct indigenous people, and one doesn't have to dislike Jews to make that argument.

Considering that Isreal resorted to baby killing and terrorism in it's early days...no no, not when they practiced genocide on Jericho, I mean when they were practicing learned SS techniques in clearing out their ill gained land after the big war they were such helpless victims in.

However, since the indigenous people in question have elected to become baby-killing terrorist trash themselves, who gives a non-kosher rat's ass about them, and let'em kill each other all they want.

I hope they have the cameras ready when they go nuclear.

Is anti-Zionism synonomous with racist anti-semtism? Not necessarily. Zionism is such a silly idea, but not because it's expressely Jewish. Any Zionist mentality is deserving of skepticism, and at worst, ridicule.

The notion that there should be a nation for an individual ethnicity or religion is itself a discriminatory, and sometimes outright racist, concept that doesn't adhere to the principles of justice, diversity, and tolerance.

It would be just as silly to create a "Jewish" state just for Jews as it was for Germans to propound a pure "Aryan" state. It's quite ironic that if you take some of the comments of some of the most ardent early Zionists, you will find many of them were ideological misfits, quite literally disturbed mentally.

Technocrat brings up a good point. If we are ones to promote equality and diversity why would we also believe in zionism?

We talk of the perils of state sponsored religion but what about religious sponsored states?

I thought it was clear that anti-zionism isn't the same as anti-semitism.

IT isn't the same, but there are some people that view any criticism against Israel and its policies as being against Jews.
