First of all i agree with you that the war was being fought for oil and nothing else. Secondly, i agree that we should leave Iraq now, however the administration of the country may have different opinions.

What proof do you have to backup your claims that we only went into iraq because we wanted to steal their oil, the whole idea of the claim is absolutely rediculous and i thought the far left dropped that arguement years ago.

Yeah, khuldun you obviously know absolutely nothing about iraq. If we pull out, the entire country would plunge into a bloody civil war. Many less iraquis die every day under the temporary US occupation than when saddam was in power. This is a great chance for Iraq to build a long lasting government. Americans didnt stop fighting the revolutionary war because some people died, the good will FAR outweigh the bad in the long run. Not to mention be a model for democracy in the middle east and be another example of the western nations doing good in the middle east. Afghanistan is turning out better than anyone had expected, just give Iraq a little time.

Ugh...and how do you know it was for Oil? Oil is more unstable now than before. Yeah those trillions of dollars we are spending on this war sure is making us RICH... You are basically spouting total bullshit rhetoric without any proof of your claims. It's nonsense that the liberal left bloviates to it's listeners.

People can say what they want about the Bush Administration... Maybe this war was started for all the wrong reasons, but we CANNOT pull out now.. We have to finish this... As I mentioned in a previous post, desert storm is a prime example of what happens to the U.S. when we leave a job unfinished. Someone comes behind and kicks us in our asses... We have to see this thing through to the end. I am thinking it will take longer than Bush's term to finish. I hope the next president can see what needs to be done and how to do it effectively... But who knows, maybe the tides will change and by the time we have a new president, we can safely pull our troops.

And to get more votes in elections.

Go to your neighbors house and destroy something. Then run away, to avoid punishment.
The US government messed this up, now the problems have to be solved.

Only haveing troops in Iraq won't help. The majority of the Iraqi people are very low educated. They will follow the warlords and religious leaders without thinking.
The US has to send teachers and build some schools, so the youth gets educated. This will take a lot of time (10 years+). After that the people there will start thinking and stop killing each other.

The plan was to secure the oil and provide energy to the U.S. for years to come. Halliburton would go in and help rebuild the country (as evident with every "no-bid" contract). However, it didn't go as planned. Insurgents have targeted oil pipelines, and Americans have basically retreated to the Green Zone since the country is falling into civil war. Bush was shown a paradise if we went in, but it turned out to be a hell. Rumsfeld is still in charge of the pentagon, and Wolfowitz is now head of the World Bank.

"Americans have basically retreated to the Green Zone...". Tell it to the Marines up north and the soldiers out in the base camps, not to mention those engineers rebuilding schools, digging new wells, building clinics (and the medics manning them). Don't forget the soldiers and Marines also patrolling alongside the Iraqi security forces. Not everybody has retreated to the "Green Zone".
