How about if you guys provide a video of a signature riff or solo performance.

Talk is cheap....

BTW, have y'all heard of the guy in the OP, Michael Angelo Batio.
I have never seen anyone play 2 guitars at once. VERY impressive.

He looks older but I dont remember him.
He played for the ban "Holland" in the 80's and according to Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Angelo_Batio): Guitar One Magazine named him the fastest guitar player of all time.[1]

Guitar One Magazine named him the fastest guitar player of all time.
Fastest possibly but not the best.

Well, Hendrix, Page and Slow Hand are already taken, so I'll go with BB King.

1. Jimi
2. BB King
3. Jose Feliciano
4. Stevie Ray Vaughn
5. Pete Townsend

Personally, the guitarist that always did it for me was Pete Townsend. He's not the best guitarist ever but given the subjective nature of the question, he makes my Top Five at the very least.

My vote would have to go to any guitarist that masters the 12-string.
Roger McGuinn of the Birds is probably the best-known.

From Dan Gs' original videos -
Batio does demonstrate dexterity, but he is merely striking the same notes on both sets of strings.

I was more impressed with the 2nd video, his classical background definitely shows thru.
That technique is called the hammer-on; just like playing the piano.

Jeff Healey also plays with the instrument laying flat. But he is blind.
He was he guitarist in that movie " Roadhouse " quite a few years' back.
-----
As far as fastest, Steve Vai ranks right up there.

-----
My taste in music is so eclectic that it is impossible to have a
" favorite ".

Ahhhh... Jeff Healey. I have four of his albums. He was great. Why he stopped putting out stuff I'll never know. Sweet sounding stuff he had.

I think Les Paul should be mentioned in this discussion, not because of his skills but because of his massive impact on the guitar itself.

And he's still doing regular gigs into his 90s!
In addition to his guitar contributions, he brought a lot to the recording industry as well.
Little known fact: many years ago, he injured his right arm badly in a car crash. His elbow was basically destroyed, so he had them set his arm so he could play the guitar.

Pookie is my favorite ! She and her boyfriend ( yes shes married LOL ) RD put on a show last night in her livingroom and me and a couple other neighbors stayed up till 6am lisening to them and singing along. RD is very good, but Pookie runs circles around him.
I know who Pookies favorite guitarist is its Justin Hayward of the Moody blues.

Okay, now I have to kill Aidie. RD is not my boyfriend! I dated him a few times back in the late 70s and early 80s and we remained Army buddies! Gaaahhh!
Really, though, he is a very dear friend.
Thank you, Aidie for the vote of confidence. I do like Justin Hayward but I like Clapton, too.

Pookie

A few are dead, as I'm sure you know. To say the best ever, each are and were the best at what they did.
