The headline of a Washington Times article falsely asserted: "Hillary likens Obama to 'pathetic' Bush." The article itself stated that Hillary Clinton "compared her rival, Sen. Barack Obama, to President Bush on executive abilities -- just minutes after calling the current president 'pathetic.' The brief exchange began after Mr. Obama of Illinois said in response to a debate question about his greatest weakness that he has trouble keeping track of paperwork." In fact, Clinton used the word "pathetic" -- in reference to Bush "begging the Saudis and others to drop the price of oil" -- more than six minutes before mentioning Bush's abilities as a chief executive in reference to comments Obama had made to a question about his strengths and weaknesses.

The detailed version is available if you click the link, as it shows what exactly was being referred to and how the two weren't related at all.

It seems like the media is trying to sink hillary lately.

Sounds like they are trying to sink both of them.

I think its becoming pretty clear that the media is doing everything they possibly can to hurt the Democrats. I don't think its QUITE an evil plot to help Republicans so much as an attempt to make things more interesting, both in the primaries and in the general election. I mean, lets look at this: on the Democratic side, we have 3 very capable, fully-qualified candidates, every one of which would do at least a decent job as president. On the Republican side, we have a whole gang of old men, all of whom are, simply put, unelectable for various reasons. Talk about a snoozefest.

If things don't pick up, the talking heads are actually going to have to start covering POLICY. Can you imagine it? A world where you'd turn on CNN and be forced to endure a comprehensive evaluation of the differences between the healthcare proposals of Clinton, Obama and Edwards? It would be hell on earth.

The media is doing everything in its power to protect us from that. From taking quotes out of context to blowing up an innoculous comment about MLK into an outright racewar, to now outright making shit up. All for our benefit.

God bless you, mainstream media.

You sure have a point there, Drocket. The media is having a field day with all this, and it seems like it's a race to see who can blow what out of proportion first and best.
What a bore sometimes.
