Quote Boxes

I haven't seen a technical question forum, so I'll post this question here.
I notice that most of you show quotes in separate boxes. How do you do that?

On the reply page (when you click "new reply") there is an icon that looks like the comic strip "speech boxes" (for lack of a better term). Click this, then enter (or copy and paste) the quote, then click the icon again to end the quote.
