VINELAND -- A man was arrested and charged with lewdness Thursday after two young girls and their mother witnessed him showering naked on his front lawn, police said.

Fred Michaux, 49, of West Oxford Street, admitted to showering on his front lawn with a garden hose telling police, "I'm sorry, but I need to take a bath." He also said he did not realize he was being watched.

A 49-year-old West Oxford Street woman was walking outside her residence with her two daughters aged 8 and 9 at 3:55 p.m., when they noticed Michaux showering across the street.

Upon seeing the man, one of the daughters said, "Mom, there's Fred taking a shower outside again," according to police.

Michaux was taken to police headquarters and processed. He was later released on a summons pending a court date.

I usually jump though my sprinkler.
Cheaper than a bidet....
and just as effective.

Was he arrested for lying to the police?

Oh, I thought because he told the police he needed a bath, and was actually showering.

Interesting...especially since his name was not "Lou"
I was arrested for "preservanationess" once, but the charges didn't stick.

Maybe there is something wrong with him that he did this. Obviously since there is running water he could have taken one inside. I'm first concerned if he is mentally okay. If he was just being an ass then fine, charge him.

I used to run around naked in the rain.

Of course, I was four years old, and we lived way out in the country with no close neighbors. Could be just a little difference doing it in a crowded neighborhood.

But I remember on my first bike ride across Iowa, back in 1987, the two cyclists who burst out of a corn field wearing nothing but helmets, and proceeded to bike for some 15 miles or so before a couple of very pissed highway cops began browbeating them. I don't know what the outcome of it was, but I thought it was funny...

In summer anyone wanting to get in the pool has to take a shower on the lawn first, usually with a swim suit on, but if no ones around i do go skinny dipping
