As for Vista, just leave it on. It will crash or get virus infected eventually and turn itself off :D

To shut off Vista, go to the circle with the four color blocks on the left of the menu bar at the bottom. When it opens, you will see two buttons on the right at the bottom. The one on the right that has an arrow on it is the shut off button.

I thank you all for your kindness and caring. I don't know what I would do without it.
I'm sorry but my aunt passed from her injuries at about 1:00 pm Saturday. She didn't really have a chance and if I am not my usual self for a couple days, please forgive me. This is difficult.
