As a British taxpayer I can’t get it what’s actually the use of pouring money into our good-for-nothing secret services, MI-6 and other. Least of all they care about my safety and inner security. I guess their major part of job is servicing of some orders of our strongmen to eliminate this or that ‘thorn in the side’ pol somewhere far away or just in London itself.
Now some of our mass media have turned the heat recently when describing how easily terrorists can penetrate this country. That Chechen terrorist Uvais Ahmadov was able to arrive in London with some secretive tape with the compromising stuff revealing details of a planned political assassination in here. The fact is that he’s a radical islamist responsible for having killed British citizens in Chechnya in 90s! Fancy he wasn’t put behind bars here! Firstly, I’m sure precaution measures in our airports are quite adequate. The man could get here only with the help of our special services and actually after the Daily Telegraph article

I don’t doubt it. MI-6 has been in long lasting contact with that terrorists just the way they doing things with Taliban in Afghanistan.
Now I think this all is actually huge challenge to the safety of my family and mine!

all western agencies seem to suffer from a level of incompetence, due to bureaucracy most likely. and, the jurisdiction for mi-6 and the cia are outside their respective countries.

the fsb on the other hand is an all-inclusive group, entitled to work within and outside russia's borders. if there were ever a shadow "government", i'd say that the fsb fits the bill. kind of terrifying entity, given russia's horrible history of corruption and atrocities. an entity operating in that sort of environment, and which has been given complete autonomy (domestically and abroad), can easily do more harm than good.

interesting, though, how the cia is thought to have played a role in 9/11.. mi-6 is thought to have harbored terrorists.. the fsb is thought to have provoked the chechen war... you look at all other similar organizations and they all have these dark histories/rumors... their role, and the understandable needs for secrecy are a winning combination - absolute power corrupts, absolutely.
