Back on Christmas Day we published a diary (http://isc.sans.org/diary.html?storyid=3787) about digital picture frames being purchased with malware installed on the built-in memory. Last Friday we did a follow-up diary (http://isc.sans.org/diary.html?storyid=3807) after two more readers wrote to tell us that they also purchased malware-infected photo frames. In the second diary we asked readers to check any recently purchased devices that connect to a user's computer via a USB cable and appear to the operating system as a mounted drive. In years past this would have been limited to iPods and USB memory sticks but now it includes digital photo frames, GPS devices, external hard drives, and of course digital cameras.

Macs are great single user machines when not in an enterprise or centrally managed environment. They don't play as nicely as other OSs with LDAP and other directory services based systems, but they do what they do VERY nicely.

The guy who tries to take my Mac isn't going to live very long.

I haven't had any problems with plug-in stuff like that. Maybe Vista hasn't figured out how to develop allergies to some things yet LOL!
Keeping fingers crossed...

You are certainly outside the norm for Microsoft's problem child Moses. I can speak to this issue as someone with experience. My network has 2500 Windows based systems, around 100 *nix systems, and 300 Macs.

Guess which systems we have the least trouble with?

My dual boot linux/Wintendo machine is great. XP is much better for games than Vista. The framerate drop in vista is just too much to handle. My Soundblaster Audigy refuses to work even with Creative's "vista" drivers too.

Vista is a bug ridden pile of poo.
