Hmmm...Barbara Lee. Let's see where she stands on protecting this country, according to an interview with Mother Jones:
On September 15, the US Congress approved a resolution authorizing President Bush to use "all necessary and appropriate force" against anyone associated with the terrorist attacks of September 11. The measure passed 98-0 in the Senate and 420-1 in the House. The lone dissenting vote was a colonel's daughter and longtime maverick from California -- Democrat Barbara Lee.
"I am convinced that military action will not prevent further acts of international terrorism against the United States," Lee said on the House floor on Sept. 15. "There must be some of us who say, 'Let's step back for a moment and think through the implications of our actions today -- let us more fully understand the consequences.'"
http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/2001/09/lee.html
Question: Have there been any attacks on US soil since Bush used "all necessary and appropriate force" to protect this country? Lee's belief that "military action will not prevent further acts of international terrorism against the United States" was obviously wrong. Does Barbara Lee have the insight into world affairs? Can she pick the right candidate as well? I don't think so. I don't support everything Bush has done, but there have been some things that were necessary.

Can you prove that there have been no attacks because we invaded Iraq?
I can prove there have been no attacks because there have been no attacks. ;)
Maybe it's because Al Qaeda is still planning the next attack, safely in Pakistan and parts of Afghanistan, because we are so busy losing American lives in Iraq, where there were no Al Qaeda before we invaded.

Come on now, Violalee, that doesn't make sense. You can prove there weren't any attacks because there weren't any attacks? Is this the reasoning that I've read about? In that case, I can prove that rain is wet because when it rains, I get wet. Obvious, eh?
You say 'Maybe it's because Al Qaeda is still planning the next attack, safely in Pakistan and parts of Afghanistan". And maybe Professor Plum is in the library with a candlestick, planning his next murder. Maybe, maybe, maybe.
Where are your FACTS that there were "no Al Qaeda in Iraq before we invaded". The whole region was, and still is, filled with extremist that hate America and our way of living (however wonderful that is). NO Al Queda in Iraq before we invaded?? Please show me the FACTS that support this claim.
On a sidenote, Obama had a good speach.

Come on now, Violalee, that doesn't make sense. Sure it does.
You can prove there weren't any attacks because there weren't any attacks? Exactly right.
Is this the reasoning that I've read about? In that case, I can prove that rain is wet because when it rains, I get wet. Obvious, eh? I don't know what you've read about but your catching on. You CAN prove that rain is wet because when it rains you get wet.
Can you prove that rain is wet because flowers are pretty?
No, just like you can't prove we haven't been attacked by terrorists because we invaded Iraq.
You say 'Maybe it's because Al Qaeda is still planning the next attack, safely in Pakistan and parts of Afghanistan". And maybe Professor Plum is in the library with a candlestick, planning his next murder. Maybe, maybe, maybe. Maybe. But it's more likely than rain is wet because flowers are pretty.

Man, I've been having this discussion for 5 years already, but OK.
The 9/11 commission found that Al Qaeda was not connected to Saddam. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A47812-2004Jun16.html
You should have learned that years ago. But now that you're aware of it, the NIE said that Al Qaeda is STRONGER because of our invasion of Iraq.
http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0718/p99s01-duts.html
So not only are you mistaken about our war in Iraq making us safer, you're actually believing the opposite of the truth, which is that our war in Iraq has made us LESS SAFE.
On a sidenote, Obama had a good speach.
Yes he did. And your acknowledging that is what contributed to my giving you pos rep tonight :)

Violalee, do you think you could convince me with your deceptive rules of engagement? I don't think so.:fight:
Come on now, Violalee, that doesn't make sense. Sure it does.
You can prove there weren't any attacks because there weren't any attacks? Exactly right.
Why are you quoting me quoting you, and then agreeing with the same thing you said earlier?? Creepy.
Is this the reasoning that I've read about? In that case, I can prove that rain is wet because when it rains, I get wet. Obvious, eh? I don't know what you've read about but your catching on. You CAN prove that rain is wet because when it rains you get wet.
Thank you for agreeing with my comparison. I sure am glad that I'm catching on. As far as reading about your uncanny ability to misquote and twist the facts, you are definately being true to your reputation.
And then you go off on a tangent...
Can you prove that rain is wet because flowers are pretty?
No, just like you can't prove we haven't been attacked by terrorists because we invaded Iraq.
Once again, you are misquoting me in order to further your cause (whatever that cause may be). I never said we haven't been attacked by terrorists because we invaded Iraq.
What's with the flowers?? Enough already.
Where are your FACTS that there were "no Al Qaeda in Iraq before we invaded". The whole region was, and still is, filled with extremist that hate America and our way of living (however wonderful that is). NO Al Queda in Iraq before we invaded?? Please show me the FACTS that support this claim.
Man, I've been having this discussion for 5 years already, but OK.
I'M STILL WAITING FOR YOUR FACTS.
Maybe 5 years is a bit too long to be having the same discussion. You seem to be obsessed with it, to the point that you will put aside common sense in order to further your cause.
The 9/11 commission found that Al Qaeda was not connected to Saddam. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A47812-2004Jun16.html
WRONG. You are misquoting the article. 911 comish doesn't refer to both being not connected. The article clearly states: "The Sept. 11 commission reported yesterday that it has found no "collaborative relationship" between Iraq and al Qaeda". Also, the report said that "there had been contacts between Iraq and al Qaeda but no cooperation". Get the facts straight before you start misquoting.
...the NIE said that Al Qaeda is STRONGER because of our invasion of Iraq.
http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0718/p99s01-duts.html
Do you actually expect me to take the word of the Christian Science Monitor when I'm not even religious (not forgetting that they are also extreme in their views). Besides that, the link doesn't even work. How convenient.
So not only are you mistaken about our war in Iraq making us safer, you're actually believing the opposite of the truth, which is that our war in Iraq has made us LESS SAFE.
I never said any of what you are refering to. I was only refering to what Barbara Lee was quoted as saying, and you twisted in all directions in order to appear that you have come out on top. My fault...I allowed myself to get sucked into the ViolaVortex. Not too cool.
You have misquoted me and the Washington Post, you have twisted the facts, and you have dishonored the Shaolin Temple. No worries. I see very clear what has happened here and I must say you are staying true to form. You divert with things that have nothing to do with the issue at hand. Not too cool. I hope you feel better now, especially after the rep victory. It was nice playing with you but I have to go home now.
Have a nice day.:nana:

I'm sorry, but I'm really getting tired of this American Dreamer character who seems to have no other purpose on this Forum but to abuse ViolaLee.
Oh, wait: he also likes to be a general nuisance in his constant questioning of pretty well-established rules.
Wait...there's more! We wants his ego stroked with his constant "how am I doing?" posts.
Can someone tell me and others why he's still here?

Heh,
Maybe he can bring down America with his Muslin ties... (is that bow ties or neck ties?)
After all, he managed to get NORAD to stand down for 2 Hours, and got our presitard to meet his demands to remove US Troops from Saudi Arabia.... all with only a few box cutters.
Osama is very creative. Even bush said "They are always looking for ways to harm us.... and so am I"

We just called to remind them that the primary election was February 5 and asked them if they've decided who they were voting for. Then we marked down the answer. And if they were undeclared, we told them they can ask for a Democratic ballot at the polls so they can vote for a candidate instead of just the propositions. Undeclared voters get a ballot with props only, unless they ask for the Dem ballot. Undeclared voters can't vote for a Republican in the primary. The CA GOP forbids it. I think they are afraid Ron Paul will get too many votes.

We don't get no calls here in Kentucky, not important enough. :/
But anyway, I'd rather campaign for Clinton. Obama might be able to win the general election but listening to him speak, he promises the moon but doesn't tell how he'll actually get any of it done. At least you can be confident Clinton knows how and will make some of her ideas realities.

He tells how he will get it done on his website. www.barackobama.com. I personally think his speeches are better than Clinton and Edward's speeches.
Caroline Kennedy says he could be a President like her father.
