This banner, a 30 foot full color banner, that would take quite a while to prepare in most situations was unfurled in Beirut within hours of the Qana bombing.
The banner says in Arabic "The massacre of children in Qana 2, is the gift of Rice. The clever bombs..Stupid"
This is just one of those things that makes me say, hmmmm........

Americans have strongly attacked an immediate ceasefire, have supported Israel in this, have supplied them militarily etc. Rice is the one out there saying Israel's attacks are legitimate.
The u.s. has the power to reign in Israel, and most presidents would have utilized it. This group refuses to.

Sorry bout that,
1. But all's fair in War.
2. As I said before, "Give them what they want and they will go away".
3. Israel is willing to kill thousands.
4. They have been pressed past their tolerance threshold.
5. Not unlike the Crusaders were.
6. Not unlike the USA should be, at all terrorist Nations.
7. How long will Syria sit back on their hands?
8. How long will Jordon do nothing?
9. All this and a bag of chips, right here on DP.

How does this have any kind of relevance to the point at hand?Â*Â*This banner was up within hours of the Qana bombing with a Qana specific message blaming Rice for what happened.Â*Â*This is a 16' x 30' banner that you just cant run to the Kinkos and have printed, and certainly not in Lebanon.
Do you not find this suspicious?

Yes, let's not rein in thousands of rocket attacks on New York coming from New Jersey with claims of thousands more to come. In fact, let's do nothing about it.
Let's ignore 45 million Americans living in bomb shelters. Forget that schools, boros, businesses and hospitals are blowing up from these rockets.
We must reign in the response. It's the response that's evil.

Israel's attacks are legitimate. If the Hezzie's don't like it, perhaps they can quit using their own children as shields?

I thought you had a problem with the inclusion of rice.
But not really. I don't know what equipment they have, whether they have posters already done and simply waiting for whatever they wanted to write on it etc.
As of right now, neither Israel, the u.s., the u.n. etc. are trying to claim that the killing was planned by Hezbollah or anyone in lebanon. It's a conspiracy theory, and deserves about as much consideration as all the rest.

The kind of equipment required to print a 16x30 banner of this size is enormously expensive to purchase and you had better bring buckets of bills just for care and feeding. It would take longer to print and dry this banner than the timeframe from the bombing to the time this banner was unfurled.
You can poopoo this with a dishonest refusal to consider the point, but this is the equivalent of a superscripted th on a 1960s-1970s vintage typewriter.

So what you're suggesting it that they had this banner printed up once they found out that Rice was going to play tourist, then staged an attack from Qana and arranged to have their own women and children on the launching site waiting for retaliation so they could use their deaths as propaganda.
Sure, why not? Makes sense to me. They use their own children to be suicide bombers.

My point is that it is not outside the realm of possibility for the human sleaze of Hizbollah.

I don't find it suspicious at all. It doesn't take days to blow up a picture and put it on a banner.
What I do find suspicious is when I see protesters in foreign countries, with their signs all in English. Now if the words under Condi's picture were in English, then I'd agree with you.
She was scheduled to be there that day. I can see the banner already made as a protest.

You dont print a 16' x 30' banner like this in just a couple of hours.Â*Â*I am just saying this is a bit suspicious.
What you're not understanding is, that her visit to Beruit was planned and then cancelled. They had plenty of time to make the banner, with her picture......adding the words would be simple. As I said, if the words were in English, then I'd have a problem with it, as it would be playing to the media.

Just how would they do that Lily? Electrostatic printing? Large format ink or wax transfer?
Expound upon how this could be? I work with these technologies, do you?

No I don't. Tell me how long would it take? As I said, her trip there was planned for about a week, then cancelled. That is a fact. Now if I were to go on speculation, and what was reported in the news, they knew she was coming since the conflict began. She is not exactly Ms. Popularity over there. Protest banners would have been made, expecting her visit. As I said, I'm not the expert, you have stated that you are. So with your trained eye, can you tell me if the words were added after the blowup or when the blowup was made?

There is no way from the photo to tell whether it was added after the fact or not. What we can point out though is that it was put up a couple of hours after the bombing with specific info. Someone would have to have created the sign, printed it, and had it dry inside of that couple of hours. Even the best of large format printing gear cannot speed up drying time and most likely is not available to your average lebanese citizen. You cannot just drop in to a Kinko's and print a 16' wide sign.
It just doesn't add up.
Ok.....let's see if we can figure this out. Will you agree with me, that the sign could have been made way before the bombing? That would take care of the timeing part.
As I said, you are the expert, but looking back at the photo, with the untrained eye, it appears that the words could have been printed with paint, after the original poster was made.Â*Â*In the dry heat there, I don't think it would take that long to dry.
Agreed so far?
As for your average citizen.....I'm not sure it was printed for the average citizen. I'm willing to agree with you, that it was printed by Hizbollah and draped from the window. The citizens milling around, make a better picture.
I think we've both made our best arguments and again have to agree to dis-agree? Unless you have something to refute from my post?

I do believe that we are at an impasse. There is no-way that sign was made in the short time between the bombing and the reveal. Much less, getting access to a large format printer to print even just the wording if your image print theory were to be proven correct.

Ah.........but you see, that's not what I'm claiming. As I said, her trip there was planned and cancelled. I'm not claiming that the bombing had anything to do with the banner and that the words were added after....but as you've stated and I agree totally with......there is no way to tell when the words were added.
Not to be snotty........after such a civil debate.........but do you mind me asking where the picture of the banner was posted at? Please don't tell me ynet. I haven't had time to read too many papers, had my grand son and friends for a few days and have been relying on TV news. (damn...kids eat a lot!) I haven't seen it on any of the newscasts.

I don't remember what source I posted it from, but you can see it at the following sources:

It has been all over the web including several left of center facing blogs.
Thanks for the links. A couple of them didn't have the story still up, but I did find this on Powerline:
"For example, was the image of Rice produced in advance, awaiting a pretext
for its use, with only the script added at the last minute?"
Oh no! A Republican that thought the same as me!;)

I think the Earth must now be hurtling towards the sun! :)
Oh Lawds no! What ever shall I do in my final moments?
Smoke one last cigarette?
Have one last drink?
Wake up my sleeping husband and make love one more time?
Read that 33 page report?
Keep on posting?
Well........if I wake my husband, I won't be sure if it's the love making, or the earth actually moved. I can drink and smoke, while I post and I'll know if the earth actually hit the sun, because someone will post an article..........if I read the 33 page report, then I'm going to miss something.
Decisions, decisions.
