It seems that some people on here like Ron Paul supporters and Libertarians feel that the U.S. basically has no vital interests overseas and that we should not defend them if they are attacked. We trade with Taiwan and South Korea as well as European nations on a global scale. What do you think our interests to the U.S. are globally that we depend on?

So, what are the interests that justify killing people rather than trading with them.
Libertarians and Paul supporters (and, especially the overlap) support completely trading with anyone and everyone. What interests do we have, beyond trade, that justifies killing anyone?

Individuals should be able to trade between nations, but they should be responsible for maintaining those trade contracts not the US government. Also South Korea has little to fear from North Korea as it has 20 times the GDP and twice the population of North Korea. I find it troubling that U.S. citizens spend more than the South Koreans to defend South Korea. I believe it's time for countries to defend themselves, besides are overly large military budget is a stain on our peace loving nation and money that could be in much better places, like our pockets for one. Leave the US military to protect the US and the US only, any other country you want to protect you can do with your own money. But don't try and give yourself or the rulers you approve of, the benefits of militarism, but shove the costs on others. Our national debt is large enough as it is thank you very much. But that's just my thoughts on it, and most people regard my political thoughts as highly radical.

Exactly and then some. We can no longer afford to take care of everyone else and the lack of trade and the attacks on us through our overseas adventurism is going to cost us our sovereignity.
And, I love your signature. My good friend Neil is a perfect example of freedom ideals. He is actually the person that finally convinced me, over 20 years ago, that libertarianism is the answer.
I should visit him again, sometime. Maybe I'll see him at the national convention in Denver in May.

It's not only posing a threat to our sovereignty but others as well, why any country tolerates foreign troops when they are not needed is beyond me. You personally know Mr. Smith that is certainly interesting, I've read a few things from him and what I've read with I really agree with. Although I’ve yet to get a book of his yet, I should probably get Hope though I hear that’s good.

The USA does not have any interests overseas.
It is the European bankers (owners of the Fed) who are using ignorant America to achieve their goals, while American citizens working two jobs just to fill up the gas tank and pay the bills....
