Should the U.S. get out of NATO?

It seems to me that there are a few Ron Paul supporters and libertarians who are adamant about bringing our troops home from all over and shutting our bases down since their belief that there is no threat anymore from anyone and the cold war is over which means to think we dont have any interests with these nations. If this is the mindset going on here should the U.S. dissolve its alliance with the other NATO nations and pull out and let the other countries fend for themselves if they are attacked by Russia or Iran and I say IF hypothetically?

I don't know about NATO but we should stay in the UN and make them do a better job of serving human rights and aid. And since they're on our soil they should do a better job, or they can go and park the UN in England or South Korea or something.

Governments don't work, and it's not like the bureaucrats in either org were elected by any of us, or are accountable to us in any meaningful way. America is the driving force behind both these IOs, and leaving will make them collapse. No problem there, because our defences at home would be strong, and it will then be easier to trade the crap out of any would-be enemies. Make them dependent, happy, and prosperous, and they won't bite the hand that feeds them economically. Yes, there will probably always be anti-modernists and luddites, but their damage potential is quite small compared to the real and ongoing drains and insecurities brought on by the current 'world police' status quo.

We can have interests without having troops stationed in countrys. Ron wants to bring troops home to slash the budget. Good idea.

KDKDK, you don't understand one thing - the US is controled by Europe (London) who simply USE naive and very ignarant Americans as a stick.
So that Europe remains a stable society and out of the spot light. while people of the world, naturally, blame "ugly America" for all the troubles.

So for as long as America is controled by the Europen bankers via the Fed you will remain member of NATO and UN.
