Now here is one of those interesting EOs Bush put in place, that currently helps Hillary & Bill hide their records from scrutiny of the GOP who would like to use them against the campaign. They had no problem when Bush did it, but then that was then, and this is now. It's that ol time Karma folks! What goes around, comes around, and finally came back and bit the Republicans. And this isn't even a warm up to expect, because the next president ca either remove Bush's Executive Orders (EOs), or alter them, or leave them as they are as long as they serve a useful purpose.

HILLARY CLINTON LIBRARY CARD < HOME

On the campaign trail, Hillary Clinton consistently speaks to her level of experience; yet, she will not allow details of that experience to be reviewed by the public.

The American people deserve to know what information is being guarded in her libraries.

Tell Hillary Clinton that she can't hide her record from the American people. Our goal is to have thousands of people sign this petition before December 31, 2007, in hopes that it will inspire Hillary to agree to share the library documents as her New Year's resolution.

Sign the Library Lockdown petition today and get your very own Hillary Clinton Library Card. Don't forget to forward to your friends and family.

Well, so it goes. This isn't the first time records were not revealed, and it sure won't be the last time, either.

I find this outrageously hypocritical of the GOP, and if you notice on this pic, they are actually digging for Bill Clinton to release these records (Hillary-Bills), because Hillary has no power to do so herself. So they are really lying to the people who they want to sign their petition. I guess the GOP is getting desperate, huh? :madlaugh:

this isn't such a laughing matter imo... two wrongs don't make a right.

i'm convinced that bush's authoritarian precedent is unlikely to be unchanged by his successor. why would one of these skinbags willingly open themselves up to the scrutiny of the public & media? while bush abused his powers, expect the next one to do the same - especially hillary imo.

Apparently it isn't wrong. It must be Constitutional, wouldn't you say? It's just the secrecy we hate about it. The idea that someone in government can get away with anything and keep it hid for 12 years. It probably will help Hillary get an extra four years.

It seems the key is the Attorney General you select to do your bidding. Now I would call it obstruction of justice, but who besides the president has the power to decide what is or isn't fair.

i don't recall ever seeing executive orders mentioned in the constitution. when jefferson employed this tactic, his opponents cried out that it was unconstitional.

you seem excited about having the opportunity to have a politician of your persuasion able to crap on the constitution - no different than bush has been doing for some 7 years now. amazing how people can criticize the opposition's abuse of power, and champion it when politicians they support commit the same abuses themselves.. pretty hypocritical if you ask me.

This is such a stupid smear by the GOP. I saw Bill Clinton on a PBS Clinton Library show. He explained that the Archivists are going through the papers as fast as they can to release them. There's nothing the Clintons can do to make it go any faster. It's not the Clintons holding the information back, it's government bureaucracy.

Why does the GOP lie so much?

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1107/Obama_and_the_Clinton_Library.html

It sucks because you look for links that explain it's all the archivist's doing and all the articles say that, but still get their digs in to smear the Clintons over this. I mean there are REAL things to discuss that Clinton did wrong, but those are things Republicans like I guess, such as NAFTA and relaxing media merging laws, continuing Reagan's wrong moves....but this? This is just stupid and dishonest.

At the Clinton library overlooking the Arkansas River, federal archivists are sorting through 80 million pages of records and another 20 million e-mails from a Bill Clinton presidency that ended in January 2001. About 2 million of those pages concern the first lady's office.

A staff of 11 spends most of its time answering some 250 requests for documents submitted under the Freedom of Information Act. Requests are fulfilled largely on a first-come basis. Because the earliest requests involved other Clinton administration activities, the requests for the now-New York senator's records are back in line, staff members said.

A list of Freedom of Information Act requests that have been completed by the archives staff includes one for a photo of Bill Clinton jogging with a "Yale Whiffenpoof Club insignia" on his clothing; another for various files on UFOs and flying saucers," and one for the full name of the pastry chef who made a birthday cake for Chelsea Clinton.

Before documents are released, archives staff must read them and, by law, must redact material that they determine contains classified information, invades a person's privacy, discloses trade secrets, discloses confidential advice from presidential advisers, or raises other concerns specified in the records law. Asked how long it might be before Mrs. Clinton's records are released, the library's chief archivist said it could take years.

"We're processing as fast as we can," Melissa Walker said.

That is a good question. I guess they are born liars, come from lying families, and become proficient at it over time. It makes all conservatives look bad, and you wonder if you can trust them to tell the truth, but most importantly to have the truth to begin with.

As for NAFTA, that was G. Bush original that Clinton signed into law. Clinton didn't conceive of the idea, write the law, or introduce it into government. A good lesson is go to the ol man Bush library and plug in Mexico Bush speeches and one world government (The man who publically coined the name.) That is where you fin the ground work for NAFTA. So it no surprise to see sonny Bush run on a ticket of bringing China into the WTO in 2000. It was the Liberals who fought the WTO, and the republicans who have sat idle.

voted for bush (my 1st presidential election) in 2000, then for kerry (solely to oust bush) in 2004.

this time around, i'm supporting paul. i no longer have any faith in the corrupt establishment, and would rather stay at home than waste a vote on those scumbags.

clinton was one of the biggest supporters of these organizations.. he didn't just sit by and rubber stamp republican initiatives - he enthusiastically supported them! what revisionism, and talk about lying...

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1997/05/07/clinton.mexico/

conservatives also fought the wto, but i doubt that'll impress you much.

and since bashing china is the "in" thing to do these days, this one seems fairly appropriate..

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1998/06/03/china.trade/

President Bill Clinton on Wednesday proposed renewing most-favored-nation (MFN) trade status for China, saying it was "clearly in our nation's interest" as he urged Congress to support the request.

the sad thing is that people still believe that democrats and republicans are separate, independent parties... they're nothing more than the flip side of the same soiled coin.

Thanks, I'll have to inform my mother of that fact.
BTW, both my parents are staunch Liberal Democrats.
Merry Christmas to you too.
