My wife and I waited until after she had her degree and we had saved some money. After the second one I got the "snip-snip" because we couldn't afford anymore.

As for maturity, both our parents didn't think we were ready at 25! Is anybody really ready for a child?

So let me ask you guys this...Is it really a big deal that a millionaire who is 16 decides to have a kid or is this a case where you show your children that some people are just better off, ergo have more options, then many of us do?

If I was 16, had hundreds of thousands or a million dollars, you know I probably would have had wanted to have a kid. If someone had said that I was "immature" I'd simply point to all the others in the world who have kids who beat them, sexual abuse them, or generally treat them like shit.

So for me there is only one factor for having kids, one factor that can be controlled. I'd love to have control over the other factors like maturity, etc., but I don't. So for me, as long as you can financially handle the burden of having a child, more power to you.

I tell my kids that Jamie Lynn is probably making a mistake, but since she can afford the child and not to work so she CAN - i.e. has the opportunity - to do it all right. But should they have kids at 16, it would hurt us in the pocket book and would slow down their future with having a kid in college.

It seems like the Media wants to paint this as some type of tradgedy. She's a rich girl who has a REALLY rich sister. Does anyone think that she can't handle a kid? She's been acting and been dealing with a career since she was a little kid! Now I feel bad for the baby, because I don't think it will have a normal life. But I don't think the child will be beatin or abused.

I just don't think that this is a big deal...

It's a free country. Not like she's the first person to have a kid at 16, in fact there's probably a 16 year old having a kid once every day in this country.

Stupid cult of celebrity worship..

I agree T&P that if it wasn't for who she is, would we even care......but I don't think that was the question, uless I'm reading it wrong the question was, is 16 too young to have a child.

My knee jerk reaction would be to say.....back in my day, yes 16 is too young to have a child and kids mature faster these days......but then I look at my 15 soon to be 16 year old grand-daughter and think what a waste of her life if she got pregnant now. Emotionally I know she could handle it, mostly because of a loving and supportive family. On her own......no way. The demands of an infant are too much for any 16 year old to handle.

I don't think there's really any question about if she should have a kid this young-----in American society 16 is too young to have kids. You have not finished HS yet, let alone college. You have alot of maturing and growing up to do, and having a child on top of that makes it much more difficult. In other cultures, 16 may not be too young. But in the US, it is.

What I find most funny is that this whole incident is going to delay to release of Lynne Spears' book about.....you guessed it.....PARENTING!!!! She did such a good job with Britney and Jaime, someone actually paid her to write a book!!!!!!!!

WHAT IS THIS COUNTRY COMING TO?!!?!?!??!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!:help::help:

There's always been stupid people, and stupid parents in the world. I read Natalie Woods biography once, her mother had another actor that she liked take Woods' virginity so her mom could know what was going on. Woods was 14.

Hollywood is full of horror stories about actresses and their sex lives at a young age and the irresponsible actions of their parents. Drew Barrymore, Brooke Shields, Elizabeth Taylor.

America's fine, we just have people who brag about it now.

If she were any other regular person we'd all be saying "Who?" But given that she's a celebrity and sister of a celebrity that automatically means it's gonna be splattered all over the news until New Years.

Honestly I don't really think it's a big deal because there are hundreds of 16-year olds who get pregnant every day. Hell, I even have a friend I knew in high school who was that age, got pregnant, and graduated on time like everyone else. Of course that's only one case.

And forgive me for this but Britney and JL are still kinda hot:embarrased:

It is a big deal only because she is worshiped by kids younger than her who will now think it is a cool thing to go out and have sex and get pregnant. Same for when her sister turned from a teen pop idol to the sultry slutty Britney. Her fans were mostly pre-teens who should not be looking up to someone like that.

I'm watching Inside Edition right now, and now it's more of a big deal than it needs to be right now because they're devoting whole stories on this. They added that the "country was divided" on this issue:grrrr: Hell, I even heard they were making a show around teen pregnancy because of this and what's funny is that it gives the impression that teens haven't gotten pregnant before...at least to me.
