By relative comparison the speed of light is 186,355 miles per second.

The distance from the sun to Pluto averages 3.6 billion miles.

The universe has expanded nearly 90 times that distance since the founding of America.Â*Â*Take into account that 230 years is nothing in terms of universal expansion and damn, that is one quickly expanding force.

In one billion years, if that rate of expansion is a constant, the universe increases in size 1,400,000,000,000,000,000 milesÂ*Â*(That's a quintillion if I'm not mistaken.).

Stars continue to form, that isn't all empty space.

This is a humbling shot of 10,000 galaxies that cover as much viewable sky as a grain of rice held at arms distance.
