Appropriate, given he's full of hot air!

(I couldn't resist the obvious, sorry!)

MSM loves it? Yeah, they would since they're more of an entertainment industry then journalists and they're ratings happy. Walter Cronkite wouldn't have given the Ron Paul blimp any mention.

Why haven't any of the other candidates thought of using a blimp? Because it's a waste of money and they want a chance at winning the election instead of foolish grandstanding.

So because it is mentioned on the news, the MSM loves it? You know they also report negative things and that does not mean that they 'love it', right?

Decent chance he might have given ron paul's candidacy a fair shake without a blimp.

Yes, he would have. He believed in fair and balanced reporting and an informed public. He might have mentioned the blimp but I suspect he would have chuckled while doing so. With Cronkite that famous chuckle meant that he didn't take the subject too seriously. Gimmicks didn't impress him.

If I were a Ron Paul contributer I probably would be upset over the spending of this. It's a waste of money and if he really wants to get the message out, get with the T.V. ads. or at the very least, continue along the lines of the internet.

That and put some shoe leather on the pavement. Paul doesn't seem to do much public campaigning, at least not in comparison to the other candidates.

Well I think he has been hitting the college route lately. I know he came to the University of Nevada Reno here a short while ago and hit a convention center if I remember correctly.

But he definately hasn't hit it main stream yet. I won't deny he has fired up the 18-24 crowd, however, statistically that is the harder margin to get to go out and vote. While they may support him, will they get off their butts and vote for him. I don't think so.

And while concentrating on the 18-24 crowd, he seems to be alienating everyone else and missing the big players that are going to play a big part in the RNC.

I appreciate Paul's enthusiasm, but as I have mentioned before, it's just a bunch of squealing of the tires to me while going nowhere.

But with a blimp the voters don't have to take the time to absorb such silly and brain numbing things as where he stands on the issues and such. Americans like pretty balloons and will vote for a candidate with a pretty balloon. :dork:

Americans don't have the time or patience to bother with any other details.

He probably realizes this as he's soliciting money to specifically fund the balloon. Sad thing is, he'll probably get some to do it.

Great points guys. Other than being based on invalid assumptions, they're just great. RTFM

That makes sense: you don't like how the guy uses his money so we just assume he's soliciting it. Lovely.

RON PAUL HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS.....

HIS SUPPORTERS PAID THIS FROM THEIR OWN POCKETS....

(if i understood corretly you think that the campaign paid this one)

But Ron Paul isn't spending the money on it. His supporters are doing so out of their own pockets.
I wish I was allowed to send some money to support Ron Paul, but I guess its natural to stop foreigners from influencing another country's elections. Thats another thing Ron Paul wants to stop the US from doing to others btw

This is from the link in the OP. Sounded like a solicitation of funds to me.

Sponsor the Ron Paul Blimp Tour.
Fly the Ron Paul Blimp -- to the inauguration!
Please choose an amount of time to sponsor The Ron Paul Blimp Tour for
and proceed to the Google checkout below.
No limits for U.S. individuals.
$5,000+ sponsors will receive 3 days/18 hours of flight time. See faq for more details

Notice how neatly this skirts the campaign finance laws as well.

And his web site is soliciting the funds for it.

I hope that when he gets his blimp he flies over my house. I didn't have the chance to go goose hunting this fall and Ron Paul is the biggest honker around. Although the dog will probably have a hell of a time retrieving it.
