If I may, and don't take this the wrong way, but...is America ready for a female or a black president?". the supposition of your work is that America is a racist or sexist nation. THIS IS NOT TRUE. It is a propaganda tool used to harm America in the eyes of those who know no better. We have racists here as every other place does. But America is not a racist nation.

Let me end with this question to you, "Is Germany ready for a Jewish Chancellor?"

I already thought that I will be criticized by Americans, but is it wrong that Barack Obama being black and Hillary Hlinton being a woman is something special? particulary because both have more or less good chances to be nominated? I don´t want to assume America to be a racist or sexist nation. with the title of my work. I just wanted to emphasize that the election campaign is something extraordinary because of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama taking part. I´m glad about your reaction and i´m open for critizism. I want to resolve the question if it is important for American voters if the presidential candidate is black or female. During my investigations for my work I expierenced that American people are not really open for answering my questions. And I suggested this shows that Americans are not sure how to handle the issue. tell me if I´m wrong!?
I cannot answer your question if Germany is ready for a Jewish Chancellor. For me personal it wouldn´t be a problem. And I´m not sure if the history if the Jewish in Germany can be compared with the history of the African-Americans.
But I know that the elections in Germany in 2005 were something special, too, because of Angela Merkel. She is a woman and lived in the GDR, that made her a very particular candidate and people wondered if her womanhood and her origin influence her chances.
If you can give me a suggestion how I can express my title in a better way I would be thankful. And of course I would be happy if you would like to participate in an interview.

Okay, here's the answer to your question. If Hilary gets nominated, she might win. That would put a female in the White House.
If Barack Obama gets nominated, he might win.
So, we have a chance of having a female or a black man in the White House whether we're ready for her/him or not.
Lots of people didn't want Bush in for a second term, but we got him anyway.
Good luck with your interviews.
Purrs,
Pookie

Linda, I must say that I'm not too pleased with any of the candidates, Republican or Democrat.

But I will vote Republican, most likely for Thompson or McCain.

Linda, I think that both Obama and Hillary are being looked at for their qualifications. If they are elected or defeated, it will be for those considerations not race or gender. Race and gender will surely be a consideration of some people, but I don't think that will be the determining factor.

Race and gender will probably attract as many votes as it loses, if not more.

But you are correct that this is a somewhat historical election for that purpose and for the fact that its the first time one of the Mormon Faith has run for president as well. No matter if any of them are elected or not, I'm sure a lot of people will find some signifigance in those facts.

You have a PM.

The question for many of us isn't if America is ready for "a" woman or black President, it is. It's more about if THIS woman or THIS black man the right person for the job. We don't just blindly support someone, just because of the color of their skin, or their gender. No one should. That, is just as racist as a person who will not vote for someone based on color of gender.

For me, I don't support these candidates, for the following reasons:

Hillary has more skeletons in the closet than the NYC Morg, and has a history of running things like Al Capone, the popular mafia boss in Chicago back in the 1920'-30's. As we like to say, "she doesn't pass the smell test".

Barak has no experience to speak of. I think if he were to focus on gaining some real achievements over the next few years, he could come back as a very strong and qualified candidate. You have to temper the steel, before it becomes strong.[hr]

Personally I like the views of Kucinich, Edwards, and Obama. I like Obama over Clinton not because he is black or that she is a woman, but because I just don't trust Hillary and think she leans too far towards the conservative side and works for big buisiness. Now if it were her against a republican I would vote for Hillary, but because of the electoral college, I will never vote for a third party candidate no matter how much I like their ideas. If it were Hillary against Ron Paul, then I would have a much harder time making a decision, but still wind up voting for Hillary because Paul is too conservative on other social issues besides the war.

I will vote for Hillary or Obama, whichever one wins the nomination. I have no problem with a woman or a black president.

Cheers to Germany for electing Angela Merkel. We need more woman leaders!

We need more woman leaders?
Would you feeel that I was sexist if I said "We need more male leaders"?

I think America is ready for a mother as president. Fathers all seem to be failures of late. Imagine a Mother's Day with Hillary in the White House.

Well, I'd volunteer, but the last time I volunteered for anything was in the Army and instead of getting to do something fun, I ended up in the Dumpster behind the mess hall cleaning it out with a toothbrush.
