After 42 years of being a Republican and a Democrat. I came to a point that these 2 partys don't give a dam about the Middleclass americans or what is really improtant to the working people of this Country anymore,or if they really cared at all. The big business and political and academic business elites, and special intrest groups are taking this country down a path that you or I don't want to think about going. With lobbyists spending 12 billion a year to influnce are law makers doesen't give us a very good chance to servive or get ahead in this country. Our politicans our out of touch with what is really happning in this country. The only thing they care about is geting re-elected to office so they can do nothing for another year but lie to us. I don't know about you but i'm tired of this. That is why I changed my status to Independent, but realized only to soon that if all the Independents didn't unite under a cause we were doomed. So I started a website it is IndependentmiddleclassAmericanparty.com it is on Google so pay a visit and let me know what you think of it. If you would like you can get in touch with me at pjohns@neo.rr.com. thanks Paul johns

You are right about the fact that neither party appears to care about the middle class. You can tell that by listening to who is talking about it. Only one guy is and that's John Edwards but the message gets lost in bullcrap about haircuts, ganging up on Hillary, and polls.

A third party is a viable idea. Too bad there isn't anyone with enough oomph to get one going and see it through the baby steps where it could compete with the big boys. I would like to see things shaken up a bit.

Have you considered being a libertarian? 8-)

that, and his voting record. "yes" for permanent normal trade relations with china (what was once called most-favored-nation status under GAAT). "yes" for the wto.

the logical choice for someone fed up with the corrupt democrat/republican establishment is to vote for someone unaffiliated with that establishment - ron paul. he may be a member of the republican party, but his voting record is that of a libertarian. or, if you swing to the left, go for kucinich, as he's a green party politician in democrat's clothing.

but, if you actually believe ANY of the blather that spews forth from these "mainstream" candidates' mouths, well... prepare to be let down once again once they're in office.

Paul, do you consider Lieberman an independent?

Just curious.

I am in almost perfect alignment with Dennis but he has no juice. Edwards talks about subjects that no one else talks about and that's why he is my mainstream choice.

I am constantly disappointed in how candidates are different from office holders but I have come to accept that as par for the course.

Ron Paul doesn't have a chance but I hope he does a 3rd party run because he will pull many more GOPers than Democrats unless *gasp* he runs with Dennis as his running mate.

He's already pulled a lot of dems, so I'm not so sure that will be the case.

True. I cannot find a survey to show whether your stuff is more true than mine but we will know in a month or so if he has any real support across the board much less within the GOP.

I can't find hard statistics, but in this interview he did recently, it definitely doesn't seem like Dems are not going to support him:

How much will the liberal crowd nurture or neuter your anti-war, anti-tax campaign before they start tearing you down — in the way that “mainstream” conservatives like Giuliani already have?
Right now, liberals are the most enthusiastic about my campaign. If I get a speech on the House floor on foreign policy, I’ll get many hundreds — sometimes thousands — of comments sent to my office. I would say 90 percent of them are from Democrats.
