In recent months and years, we have had to sit mesmerized as one priest after another is accused of sexual abuse of young parishioners and we have watched Christian ministers confess to homosexual acts and drug abuse. There were even two young Rabbis accused of sexual abuse of a young girl aboard an airliner. I have to admit that I cannot remember any stories about Islamic religious figures, or Hindu or Asian although I suspect they do exist.
Now, in politics, when a senator or congressman is arrested or some other government official is nabbed, a spin machine cranks into action to try to explain it away. But in religion, the holy man is left to twist in the wind as he attempts to explain away or at lease excuse himself. His colleagues appear to back away so as not to get their hands dirty. Am I reading ity correctly that brotherhood disappears when sex or drugs is involved? I think it is happening now to a Reverend Paulk in Georgia.

Well, to answer your topics questions, "Are there religious Spinmeisters?" to that the answer is most definately yes. It is a huge problem when evil people put on the false image of being a man of God and then act contrary to the teachings of that religion. It causes non-believers to point and say, "See, hypocracy!" They blame the religion that already condemns the persons action and not the evil nature of the person themself.
Mat 7:15 ΒΆ Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Mat 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Mat 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither [can] a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Mat 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Mat 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
As for your last point, I can't say if religious leaders who have fallen in disgrace are treated worse than politicians. But I hope they are. They are held to a higher standard not only in our society but also in scripture.
