View Full Version : Politically Georgia isn’t doing well.
Politically Georgia isn’t doing well. Saakashvili has sorted it out with opposition demonstrators in most barbarous way and in the result the country lacks stability now, which is no good for investments. Not so long ago Georgia was removed from the list of variable risk countries. And as a businessman I was happy with the fact. Some geographical and cultural proximity of Georgia presented a particular advantage for me (I come from Turkey) and I’ve included Georgia in my nearest business agenda. That’s really a pity we are back again now due to lack of brain with president Saakashvili. I am highly suspicious that the worst is yet to come in Georgia, kind of inner clashes between the wild opposition and no less wild president in Georgia unable to civilized actions. And I am least inclined to think Saakashvili will give up his power willingly. So it may end up in civil war or smth like that. Perhaps I am wrong. What’s your idea of investment perspective in Georgia now?

I hear pretty much nothing about georgia here in the U.S.. Hopefully they can get their act together. Is it just internal strife or is there outside interference?

I have one client in Georgia and his opinion is that all is calm now and he is not worried at all. He is just happy he is not living in Belarus :D
