Pet Wolves Maul Woman To Death

A Salem Township woman was found dead inside a large fenced-in area where she kept six hybrid wolves, and an autopsy has determined that the animals killed her.
Sandra L. Piovesan, 50, did not show up to meet her daughter at 10 a.m. on Monday as they had discussed the night before, Piovesan?s daughter said.
Piovesan also did not answer her daughter?s phone calls, so her daughter called a nearby auto parts store and asked an employee to go to the woman's home on Croft Road and check on her, Channel 4 Action News reporter Sheldon Ingram said.
The employee said he noticed the door to the wolves' lair was open and contacted the police.
State police said the wolves were mauling Piovesan's body when officers arrived, Ingram reported.
Piovesan was pronounced dead at the scene by the Westmoreland County coroner at 2:03 p.m.
The wolves were tranquilized, then shot and killed by police with the family's approval, Ingram reported.
On Tuesday morning, the coroner ruled that Piovesan's death was an accident as the result of blood loss and an "undomesticated animal attack."
Piovesan had kept the wolves for the past five or six years, Ingram reported. They had been bred with dogs.
