After nearly a solid week of dropping hints, Stephen Colbert threw his hat in the ring in the race for president tonight.
First, he made a surprise appearance at his old home, Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," Tuesday night to make an official announcement: He was officially considering a run for president and would announce his decision "some time soon."
Soon arrived about 20 minutes later on his own show, The Colbert Report, when, with balloons falling, he said, 'Yes, I'm doing it!" Then he welcomed CBS political analyst Jeff Greenfield to analyze his impact on the race "in the past three minutes."

So, I presume a new sub-forum will be created for him? :P

He's on Comedy Central, of course it's a joke.
Actually I would like to see what it'd be like if he ran, he might hog all of Hillary and Giuliani's votes.

On the other hand, he might run as a republican. Given his on-air persona, that might be more likely.

He's running as both a Democrat and a Republican.

He'd make a good Republican candidate..nobody would take him serious as a leader though,
err. . . guess that's not much different from todays president.

Why Labrocca? Why is a campaign above being made fun of? Sure the hell is better than the attacks and negative campaigning.

Our presidential race shouldn't be mocked imho.
Speaking of mocking, I think someone like Alan Keyes makes a more serious mockery of democracy than Steven Colbert does. And if you dig into it, the woods are full of would-be candidates who a few bricks shy of a load.

Considering we have seen a serious interest in "none of the above" on this forum of those who are politically interested, I think the race may need some mocking.

True. Between comedians Colbert is much funnier than Alan Keyes.

I think he was put up to it by Comedy Central...this is a HUGE ratings opportunity for them.
I think his off air persona could care less about the election.
