Amazing.
A conservative newspaper in Cedar Rapids, Iowa has dropped the Ann Coulter column, apparantly becoming the first such newspaper to emerge from its coma.
Coulter of course blames it on the "liberal media" that is out to destroy her. I guess it never dawned on her that her columns may be at fault and that they make even conservatives throw up from the shame of being associated with her bizarre brand of politics.
But just as every journey begins with a single step, so does every return to sanity as this appears to be. Will other newspapers follow suit and give Coulter her walking papers? Who knows. It all depends on how long they are capable of tolerating the garbage she spews. But lets face it, Coulter is no longer entertaining or gutsy. She is just trash.

One newspaper in Iowa?
Hell, that's your definition of victory?
At least conservatives can point to putting Dan Rather's head on a pike and destroying 60 Minutes II and you're gloating about a newspaper in Cedar Rapids dropping a column?
Your standards for declaring victory sure are different than ours.

Pittsburgh, I am not calling this a victory. I am calling this a reawakening to sanity. I am calling this a realization that that the poster child of bad taste, Ms Coulter, is finally getting the rejection she so richly deserves. Thats all.
Have a nice day.

Ah yes, we're awaiting the reawakening of sanity of the New York Times as well.
We'll gloat with glee when the latest ABC numbers after their latest flap arrives.
You can gloat about being rejected with glee all you wish.... it's still Cedar Rapids Iowa.
We still have Dan Rather's head on a pike and Mary Mapes unemployable.
I'll take my media victory over yours.
ANY.
DAY.
OF.
THE.
WEEK.
Have a nice day.

I hate to pile on an argument that I've already won but I can't resist this direct comparison.
Amazing.
A radio ownership group in Atlanta, Georgia (A top 10 radio market.) has dropped the Air America network, apparently becoming the latest radio station group to emerge from its coma.
Air America of course blames it on the "vast right wing conspiracy" that is out to destroy it. I guess it never dawned on them that their programming may be at fault and that they make even liberals throw up from the shame of being associated with their bizarre brand of politics.
But just as every journey begins with a single step, so does every return to sanity as this appears to be. Will other radio station groups follow suit and give Air America their walking papers? Sorry bout that,
1. But damn double slam dunk there! Bam!
2. That's gonna leave a mark.
3. Air America is full of Hot Air, seems to me, I have never listened to it.
4. And never will I guess if they have to shut it down.
5. If you can't get people to buy from the advertisers then your going down.
6. I guess the damn cheap Liberals are waiting for the other guy to buy the thing or deal they sale on Air America.
7. Maybe they expect the Government to buy their advertised cr@p?
8. I heard from a few sources that Air America raided the Girl Scouts funds.
9. What a total disgrace to rob the innocent Girl Scouts, have they no shame?
10. This fact will bury Air America! hehehehehehehehe :)

Will you offer the same kind of condemnation of the left-wing trash that frustratedly delivers its trivial invective as Air America or are you going to work this item with a hypocritical slant like you have so many other topics on this forum?

Cedar Rapids Newspaper Drops Ann Coulter's Column
By Sarah Weber
Published: July 12, 2006 5:05 PM ET
NEW YORK Ann Coulter is no stranger to controversy, but her latest adventures have several newspapers questioning whether carrying her syndicated column is worth the trouble. The Shreveport (La.) Times is currently leaving the decision of whether or not to keep Coulter up to its readers. But the first newspaper to officially drop Coulter’s column since the latest uproar began seems to be The Gazette of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she had appeared for about 14 months.
Opinion Page Editor Doug Neumann told E&P, “Our decision was made before the plagiarism allegations. It did come after the publication of [Coulter’s] book, but I would say it didn’t directly play any role on our decision.”
However, Neumann surmised that Coulter’s incendiary book may have played an “indirect” role in the final decision. “I think it was the book that began to unwind support among her readers,” Neumann explained.
“Liberals have never liked her, and we’ve always gotten complaints [from them]. But the complaints that mattered the most were from the conservative readers,” who felt that their views were being misrepresented.
Coulter's syndicate, Universal Press, cleared her of plagiarism charges earlier this week.
Though The Gazette may be the first to drop the outspoken conservative columnist in recent months, Neumann emphasized, “It’s not uncommon for opinion pages to change their line-up." The daily has long published conservative Cal Thomas and replaced Coulter with another conservative, David Limbaugh.

What contest, your evasion of the question?
Congratulations, Newscaster.
You got 3 neo-cons to deny this was even a story worth mentioning before they ran off to whip on Air America, Dan Rather and the New York Times. Nice job!

I hate Ann Coulter and Air America equally. :)
You liberals are the ones putting her in the spotlight by denouncing everything she says. Why do you care what Ann Coulter says? She is just using things like this to stir up more chaos. IGNORE HER! IGNORE HER! Thats the only way to defeat that witch.

Congratulations, Newscaster.
You got 3 neo-cons to deny this was even a story worth mentioning before they ran off to whip on Air America, Dan Rather and the New York Times. Nice job!
This isn't a story worth mentioning.
It's Cedar Rapids f'in Iowa. Nielsen market size 88 of 210 331,480 households, 0.301% of the United States household population. Link (http://www.nielsenmedia.com/DMAs.html)
Now let's compare this to the media troubles of CBS, Air America and the New York Times.
1. CBS lost their anchor that reaches 100% of the American population in terms of who has access to their nightly programming due to his abject bias.
2. CBS shuts down 60 Minutes II due to a complete lack of credibility.
3. The New York Times has congressional leaders discussing revoking its press credentials due to bias, national security issues and wants investigations into those providing leaked information from the government side as well as possible criminal actions against the NYT for publishing classified program details.
4. Air America can't attract an audience greater than that of a monkey throwing feces. Atlanta, Georgia Nielsen market size 9 of 210 2,097,220 households 1.903% of the United States household population. Link (http://www.nielsenmedia.com/DMAs.html)
113 radio outlets in the Atlanta DMA. Link (http://www.ontheradio.net/metro/Atlanta_GA.aspx) Yet they can't find another station to take their programming?
Now take this last tidbit into account. Air America pays stations to air them. Not the other way around. So 113 stations and none of them are so desperate for money that they would air it.
Oh, they're also getting dropped in New York from WLIB on August 31st so they'll have no flagship station in New York either. Link (http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/news/recent_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002424337)
Unfortunately for Air America that's likely the death of the network if they find no home. New York is worth 100 small markets. You can't make up losing a media outlet reaching 7,375,530 households and 6.692% of the U.S. household population. Link (http://www.nielsenmedia.com/DMAs.html)
One newspaper in Iowa is not worth mentioning in scope of political punditry.**It just isn't.**No matter how you try and frame it.
There's just no comparison here as to who's getting their ass kicked ECW.
Let's see if I have this right...
One newspaper drops Coulter's rants from their editorial page and every neo con on the board goes ape, not discussing Coulter's relative merits but, instead, using the occasion to spout off about every pet peeve they all have about the "Liberal media." I guess The Des Moines paper wanted people to start reading their paper again instead of using it to line Polly's cage.
Typical rightwing over-reaction. Floooooooooosssssshhhhhhh!

Sorry bout that,
1. But Ann Coulter is doing fine.
2. She's knocking heads, which I think is pretty cool for a Lady.
3. I wouldn't doubt if she gets into politics.
4. She's a straight shooting broad.
5. And kicks libs for fun, and profit.
6. Good luck with that, if your a liberal.

1. If being accused of plagiarism (and having a computer program prove it) is your definition of doing fine, then she is doing quite fine.
2. Too bad she doesn't act like a lady.
3. She would get her ass handed to her except if she ran for Dog Catcher. Then she might win based on her "bite."
4. Well, she's straight, and she's probably done some shooting and she's a broad. Put them all together and you have a lying sack o' crap.
5. And she makes it up as she goes along...
6. Good luck if she decides to run for office.

Sorry bout that,
1. But this smear of Ann Coulter isn't anything new.
2. Liberals always do this these days, to try and hurt her book sales.
3. The message is what they should fight, but they just can't.
4. The message is bullet proof, or they could shoot it down.
5. So they make a serious charge.
6. Try to slander the whole book with plagiarism charges.
7. I wished she would sue any News Paper that prints a story like that.
8. She would win huge amounts of free cash, and add fuel to the fire of the liberal medias downfall.
9. I am sure she will figure it out sooner or later.

I would like to thank the neocons here for giving me some of the best laughs I have had in months. You are so intent on smartmouthing me and those others here who are not impressed with your mental acuity that you come off looking like the guys who come pouring out of that little clown car at the circus........just pouring out, hopping around and thinking that you are top notch performers.
Thanks a lot.
I don't see anyone here being able to disprove the plagiarism charges. Just attack the poster but never the issue. "Liberal Media!" Waaaaa! Waaaaa! Waaaaa!

Sorry bout that,
1. But I feel old Newscaster in having his swan song.
2. Sure you believe we are acting the clowns if it makes you feel like you hold a winning hand.
3. You prepare your final few votes for the likes of JF Kerry, Hilary, or Gore, these are the only clowns in the political arena.
4. But you gladly go to the polls and cast your lame duck vote for one or more of them.
5. There's a lot more sane people in the heart land than there is on the left and right coasts.
6. You nut jobs just don't get it, The Center Part of this Nation counts a hell of a lot more than the fringes.
7. We will carry this Nation back from the brink of disaster with you nut job Liberals kicking and screaming.
8. Then we are going to have to cage you morons with laws meant to stuff some of you back into the closet, and others to stop killing the unborn, we will revert this Nation back to its prior State, before you Liberal mucked it up the last 60 years.
9. If you have had a lol or two that's fine, I have had more, and as this Nation reverts back to its foundation, your lol's will become less often.
10. And those Gay Pride Parades will end, how sad. :)
