They seem to be really popular on debating forums, but I personally find them incredibly annoying, when people deliberately misrepresent an argument and then disprove that misrepresentation it proves nothing, and forces people to merely reword their original point rather than progressing. This is a plea to all people on the board, don't use strawmen in debates, they are counter-productive and highly irritating.
