Giuliani Inspires Third Party Run (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/01/us/politics/01evangelicals.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&pagewanted=print)

I guess his family values are a bit shaky for the base religious right that Bush and Rove worked so hard to capture.

Alarmed at the possibility that the Republican Party might pick Rudolph W. Giuliani as its presidential nominee despite his support for abortion rights, a coalition of influential Christian conservatives is threatening to back a third-party candidate.

The threat emerged from a group that broke away for separate discussions at a meeting Saturday in Salt Lake City of the Council for National Policy, a secretive conservative networking group. Participants said the smaller group included James C. Dobson of Focus on the Family, who is perhaps its most influential member; Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council; Richard A. Viguerie, the direct-mail pioneer; and dozens of other politically oriented conservative Christians.

Almost everyone present at the smaller group’s meeting expressed support for a written resolution stating that “if the Republican Party nominates a pro-abortion candidate we will consider running a third-party candidate,” participants said.[/quote]

It wouldn't break my heart if Rudy doesn't get the GOP nod.
I don't think he is as strong a candidate as the MSM, or Dick Morris, for that matter, makes him out to be.

Hi Kyi Yo,

I don't believe that Rudy ever HAD the religious right as a voting block. I have never found him to be an appealing candidate.

I think the right in this country will hold their nose and vote for Rudy in order to defeat Hillary.
They fear and distrust her so much that they will take the lesser of two evils. and not split their vote and squander the election by supporting a third party candidate.

I still don't think that Rudy is a shoe in, by any means.
And I think his ability to win is overblown by the wishful and deceitful MSM.
He is not the best candidate we have to offer.

Then we are just re-visiting '04.

Reporting on him and his past is not some left wing conspiracy.....it speaks for itself.

No, he's not, but we have discussed this before.;)

And if I remember correctly, it was quite enjoyable. :D

But ,yes I think the GOP taking advice from the MSM on who our candidate should be is like trusting December to run Israel.

.......ah......but did you still respect me in the morning?

But ,yes I think the GOP taking advice from the MSM on who our candidate should be is like trusting December to run Israel.

Well.......I wouldn't go that far.......I'd compare it more to the Republicans saying that the terrorists will be happy if the Democrats win.

As a Republican yourself, you may be right about the "Religious Right" being so cynical that they will put their consciences aside and vote for somebody they view as "rotten".
But as a Christian clergyman myself, I suspect that there at least SOME conservative Christians who have only supported the Republicans because - however mistaken - they actually thought the Republicans were morally upright!
I hope that my web sites have contributed to the enlightenment of such Christians.

Rayosun,
So as a Christian clergyman you would support a pro-life candidate by voting for Clinton?
Am I misunderstanding you...
or are you a pro-abortion Christian clergyman?
No offense,
just curious.
