Sep. 17 - An EU court ruling backs the European Commission's decision that software giant Microsoft illegally used its power to crush competitors.

The EU's competition commissioner says she hopes there would be no further need to take legal action against Microsoft but warns that Brussels will act if it's necessary.

Nothing new there. Microsoft does that everywhere. I'm glad that the EU had the guts to stop them. We won't.

I have to admit, I am torn on this issue. Microsoft certainly should have specific rights to its own intellectual property, but it has acted in predatory fashion time and time again with an eye towards making sure the playing field is NOT level for the competition.

I am all for ensuring a competitive environment, but Microsoft's intellectual property should be protected as is that of every other company.

I don't see Ballmer and Gates doing anything about the situation unless they are made to do so though.
