Let's see, why aren't many Muslim leaders coming out against AQ? That's right, we don't protect them when they do.

In a war that we need all the local leader support we can get, this guy should have been a high priority to be protected IMO.

What message was successfully sent again? If you side with the U.S. you will die.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A key Sunni sheik who united with U.S. forces to fight al Qaeda militants in Iraq was assassinated Thursday in a roadside bomb attack, officials said.

Sheik Abdul Sattar Abu Reesha, 39, was head of the Anbar Salvation Council, a coalition of tribes that has been working with the U.S. military to counter al Qaeda militants in Sunni-dominated Anbar province.

The afternoon attack near the sheik's home in Ramadi killed two bodyguards and wounded five other escorts, Ramadi police and Interior Ministry officials said.

The Anbar Salvation Council, funded and supported by Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, was formed last year.

After Abu Reesha's killing, the council went on Iraq's state-run television to announce seven days of mourning.

Abu Reesha was one of several Sunni leaders who met with President Bush during his surprise visit to Anbar on September 3. In a photograph taken during the six-hour visit, a smiling Bush is seen shaking hands with the sheik.

Can't the US govt realise that the real bad guys are Al Qaeda, not the Iraqi resistance in Anbar? The US army needs to get off it's collective ass, and make a peace treaty with the Iraqi resistance and join forces against a shared foe.

This is not a case of "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

The Iraqi resistence, while not a military problem like Al Qadea, it is a political problem.

Until the Iraqis begin to reconcile, all but the legitimate Govt., our are enemies.

You see, here is the kicker. Here is a picture of Bush and the Sheik (notice the smiling faces in the background) a few weeks before when Bush made his visit to Anbar. If you don't think this was a kick in the face and a you don't know what the hell you're talking about, we're still in charge here from AQ, then I don't know what is.

That picture makes me so sad. There's Bush with his goofy frat boy asshole smile and the sheik, serious, looking even a little bit scared. And now he's gone. Another man's blood on Bush's hands.

Listen, the Americans are the INVADERS. and the OCCUPIERS!

Shaking hands with that fratboy bastard that caused all the bloodshed for your nation is not good politics there, Sheiky...

Damn! Don't sheiks learn anything in sheik school?

I pretty much assume that any allies we have are bought and paid for. Just like the countries Bush claims are fighting with us in Iraq. Everyone of whom were bribed. Except England, which gets to share the proceeds from the oil deal. But in fairness to the man, maybe he thought Bush would help the Sunnis survive in Iraq. It would be stupid as hell to expect any help from that source. The Bushies use people, not help them.
