is a neoliberal - other than a marketing ploy, of course.:jammin:
There are clear policy decisions that show totally different priorities between traditional conservatives and neoconservatives.
What are the traditional liberal positions on key issues? How are the neolib positions different?:dizzy:

Please do not be swayed by some of our more rightward leaning members, a neoliberal is essentially a libertarian. Here's the wikipedia page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neoliberal
Essentially, a hardcore free-trader and a social liberal: i.e. a libertarian.

Fascinating - the wheel has turned and the pendulum has swung. In essence a neolib seems to be a Goldwater repub - minus the anticommunist rhetoric. Am I correct?

The term neoliberal, as it's used here, was thought up by one of our "special" posters. Other "special" posters have picked up on the word, seemingly unaware that they have absolutely no idea what it means.

And they use the term as an insult against anyone who disagrees with them. Stoner and Chessy do anyway.
They have no idea what it means, do they? Is there anyone in our government that is actually a neoliberal?

This sorta sounds like a western democrat - which I believe is the current version of the former reagan democrats. Sick as hell of repub corruption and mismanagement - not to mention hypocrisy, but not all that sure that dems are all that great.
Might be that Chess and pal know they have no chance of getting anyone but the misguided 20% of strict partyliners to agree with them - so they have to put everyone down. I know they run off when i confront them about govt spending and growth - which were once key repub rhetoric.

As if you don't use neocon the exact same way. Do you even know what a neoconservative is?
Bush is a Republican, a neocon.
He obviously is relating to the neocons. Do you really want another neocon in the White House?
Fred Thompson supports the neocon PNAC agenda along with all these PNAC freaks and idiots.
The neocons that run the National Review, calling for Bush to pardon him, makes me think he will do it. He's done everything else the neocons want...
Last but certainly not least...
Maybe Labrocca will come to his senses and start learning the truth about the neocons and all of their lies.
Sometimes I wonder if people should speak out load when they post. Maybe they will begin to realize how often they repeat themselves.

Neocons are liberals who went sour - they support using american troops to nation build, and american tax dollars. Those are hugely different from traditional conservative positions - as is their stand on federal govt (growing it), education (federalizing it) and debt (growing it). Didn't Reagan run on a balanced budget ticket? It show how much the party has changed. Simply to refer to someone as a neocon isn't a perjorative - if their choices fit within that mindset.
I'd say viola disagrees with neocons - but except for the PNAC comment, which doesn't mention neocons , she wasn't insulting. What I see posted about neolibs is far more insulting - to the point where I started this thread. I assumed the term was made up - but apparently not.
So, what about neolib stands bothers you?
