View Full Version : Terms.
Do you agree with the constitution.
With a amount of terms and years a president can serve?
I personally like it.. and I'm not the only one ofcourse..
but others may have different views on it.

I would like it to be 3 personally. I think the 2nd term lame duck problem occurs too often.

Here in Romania the president is elected every 5 years and he(or she :) ) can serve only 2 terms. Back in the '90 there was a scandal because after the fall of communism there were organized elections in 1990. Ion Iliescu became president and serve a 2 years term (a short term for rebuilding the country). In 1992 were elections and Iliescu won. The term 1996-2000 (4 year terms at that moment) was the second after 1990-1992. But Iliescu also won in 2000 so he served in 2000-2004 his third term. This was possible because the Constitutional Court of Romania didn't consider the 1990-1992 period as a term. As I said, there was an important scandal.
The 2003 constitution stated that the term should be 5 years.
