With Harry Reid unable to get anything done, the Dem Congress tanking in the polls, and the kook left base openly expressing their anger - Republicans are finally coming out pubicly and putting Sen Reid on the hot seat
GOP senators to chide Reid
By S.A. Miller
Senate Republicans are preparing to take aim at Majority Leader Harry Reid over the August recess for being "all talk but no action" and helping drag the Democrat-led Congress' approval rating to a historic low, according to a document distributed to caucus members.
Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona, chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, is meeting with members yesterday and today to disseminate a message critical of Democrats for endlessly debating the Iraq war, stalling judicial nominations and squandering time on at least 300 investigations of the Bush administration.
"We really ought to be asking why this Democrat leadership won't allow Congress to move forward on serious policy debates," Mr. Kyl said, when asked about the talking-points memorandum he is circulating.
"Americans have been disappointed by a majority leadership that stages one show debate after another, while the only consistent legislative work getting done is the renaming of post offices."
The document, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Times, criticizes Mr. Reid for letting legislative priorities languish, including the drop of the Defense Department budget authorization bill — which would have approved funds for equipment and troops' pay increases — after Republicans last week blocked an amendment that set a spring deadline for a pullout.
It highlights that only one of the Democrats' legislative priorities — a minimum-wage increase — became law in the 200 days since they took control of Congress, and that a recent Rasmussen Reports poll shows that just 16 percent of voters approve of Congress' performance — well below President Bush's 38 percent rating.
"The only thing languishing are Republican talking points," Reid spokesman Jim Manley said. "The fact is Democrats have delivered on their promise to move the country in a new direction."
Although the minimum-wage increase is the only campaign promise to become law so far, Mr. Manley pointed to other accomplishments, including the passage of appropriations bills, energy legislation, Hurricane Katrina disaster relief and more than 80 hearings on the war in Iraq.

And to think Dirty Harry is from my state. That asshole give's Nevadan's a bad name. I think he is purposly tanking as he knows his career is done. His approval rating here in Nevada is at like 7% or something like that. He has managed to piss everyone off, Republicans, Democrats, Independant, Libertarians and Green Party Members. Then the asshole only comes back to his beloved state once every couple of months from his lavish Washington Ritz Carlton Apartment. Screw him.
So when the Republicans come back from vacation, they plan to attack Reid, instead of working with the senate to get things done?
Let me know how this works out.

So pointing out how the Dems have broken nearly every promise made to get elected is now "attacking"?
Harry has accomplished some things : he said the war is lost before the surge started, and has the same approval number as Scooter Libby
Not bad for only 8 months as Senate leader

Getting him to do something or getting him impeached will be getting things done.

I am sure as the Dem leaders continue to push for impeachment, add increasing amounts of pork to spending bills, and try to surrender in Iraq - their already low numbers will continue to sink
Let Dems be Dems and show the voters what they really stand for

Actually they could impeach him if they wanted. The Senate would do it and they only out number us by a couple. Every Republican hates that man and I know of a few Democrats who despise him like Senator Dodd(which is his most endearing trait).

No way. All the Dems need is to have a simple majority in the House - but need 67 votes in the Senate to remove Pres Bush from office
The voters would turn on the Dems big if they tried it - and their approval numbers would hit single digits

The same could be said about the Democrats in Washington for the whole of the Bush administration Lily.
We all know how this works out. Deadlock. The Republicans do it, the Democrats do it, and we average Americans sit back and watch like it is entertainment.
It is kind of sad actually.

But with Dems hell bent to raise taxes, have government run health care, appeasement to terrorists, appointing liberal Judges who make law from the bench, and increasing spending and pork - the voters will show their displeasure with the Dems in 08

No, the title of the tread pretty much says it all.......and then there is the article you posted, saying how they are going to do it. I don't know about you, but I wish our people in congress would start to work together, instead of all this petty nonsense. If the Republicans were so worried about getting things done, then that is what they should do. I think they are thinking, we'll just slow down anything the Democrats want to get done and then write article on how bad they are, hoping that this will stop Democrats from being elected, when all it is doing is showing how they don't want any progress in Washington, they just want their jobs.

Yeah, well so has Newt (http://www.newt.org/backpage.asp?art=4737).......where's the outrage?[hr]

Actually I do agree with you, we have more important things to dealwith then the Congress and Senate's partisan pissing matches they keep having.
As far as getting Reid Impeached there already is a movement in the Senate supported by our other Senator from right here in Nevada. It isn't foolish, Senator Reid has committed numerous crimes over the past couple years and has now gone on a complete power trip as Senate Majority Leader. I can back up my claim of the criminal acts if you wish, im sure you've seen them all on CNN. As far as the power trip everyone has seen it. He is not liked by anyone from either party except for his Girlfriend Pelosi.
The funny thing is that during the election of 2006 instead of celebrating the wins here with his people of nevada he was at a victory party of Pelosi in California. That really shows how important his home state is to him.

I have no respect for that glorified windbag. I can't stand the traitorous jerk... or his traitorous mistress.

Like I already said........go for it and you will look as silly as those calling for Bush and Cheney's impeachment. ..........I do think though that Gonzales might be worth it.

Pres Bush has tried that over and over. Remember the "new tone"?
All Dems have done in response is hate, rage, insults, and scorn
All Dems have done in response is hate, rage, insults, and scorn
Really? Who just gave him the war spending money he wanted? Who just gave him warrantless wiretapping with absolutley no oversight....something that you've been completely mis-representing on almost every thread I've read tonight, regardless of what the topic is. You do realize that now there is no warrant needed and no FISA court to go through, don't you? I think you should be down on your knees thanking those Democrats you seem to hate so much........they're becoming the rubber stamp that the Republicans used to be.
..........oh and you seemed to overlook Newt's statement......why is that?
Because Newt's statement blows everything RSR has said so far completely out of the water. It's a neocon trait: only accept the facts in line with your own ideology and discredit, disregard, discard all the rest. He'll either slink away now or post something that totally ignores your post, Lily.

Newt is another man I really liked and respected and lately is showing his true colors and being a total idiot.
On the bright side we are having a major protest of Senator Reid on September 3rd. :D The last one I organized I had over 100 people with less then 4 days notice.
