“Freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do.â€

Orwell was a prophet.
He sure envisioned a world where the libs hold sway over society.
I see his writings as more of a warning of what will happen if we succumb to total government control rather than actually prophetic.
This is a real threat.
People ought to reject socialism before it infests our process further.

In other words, you think resisting socialism is more important than real freedom? Figgers....

People very often misunderstand Rudy. His background is NYC DA where he placed criminals in jail better than anyone else.
And Buck..which part of his statement do you actually disagree with?
Rudy simply believes in structure and authority. Without either our society is chaos. btw...I was rooting for Rudy till I heard his stance on Iraq. I don't want us another President that will keep us there.

So freedom is submission to authority.
Wow.
I didn't need another reason to dislike Rudolph Giuliani, but I've found one.

All of it. I disagree with the statement in its entirety.

Freedom and authority are not in the same league. Giuliani doesn't seem to get that.
