Let's say that America, or some part thereof advances to the stage where people live in a voluntary society that has less violence and more productivity through mutual cooperation, ie, the free market. One issue I and other people have struggled with is the question of "what effect would other existing states have on the smaller society". In other words, is it possible to "go voluntary" one region at a time, or does the entire world have to do it all at once, presumably over a gradual period of increased liberalism?

I would like to think that one region could be successful and serve as an example to the rest of the world (ie, the Free State Project (http://www.freestateproject.org/)), but I don't know. If anyone has any ideas about this, please post them!
