WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani's teen-age daughter found herself under the harsh media spotlight of national politics on Monday after word circulated that she might support Democrat Barack Obama.

The online magazine Slate.com reported that Caroline Giuliani, 17, listed herself as a "liberal" in her profile on the social networking Web site, Facebook.com, and declared herself a member of the Facebook group called: "Barack Obama (One Million Strong for Barack)."

Obama, an Illinois senator, is one of the leading Democratic candidates for the White House.

A spokeswoman for Caroline Giuliani said the teen-ager's Facebook listing was intended as an expression of interest in "certain principles" but not an indication of support in a presidential campaign.

But when word spread that the daughter of the former New York mayor and leading Republican presidential candidate could be backing a Democrat, the story began to attract other media outlets including the New York Times, CBS and CNN.

Slate.com said the teen-ager's profile page on the social networking Web site had been available only to Facebook members who attend her Manhattan high school or Harvard University, where she plans to study this fall.

The teen-ager quickly quit the Obama fan club and took down her profile page on Facebook.

Giuliani, who was campaigning in Iowa, declined to comment as did the Obama campaign.

Good for her.

Too bad her father and the neocons he loves so much won't let her have the freedom of speech.

A teenage daughter rebelling against her father! Say it isn't so!

...won't let her have the freedom of speech.

Care to elaborate on that Viola?

I don't know if it's her father and/or necocons that asked her to take the page down, so I'm not sure that I'd blame her father and/or for not giving her freedom of speech. . . :innocent:

I'm sure it was something along the lines of "mind taking that knife out of my back, baby?"

Well I raised my kids to think for themselves from religion to politics. So good for her, and Rudy for not interfering!

I'm not saying any one forced her, I'm just saying it's a shame that the daughter of a candidate can't back whomever she likes.[hr]

How do you know Rudy didn't interfere?

Having a political career means you get to whip your entire family in line from a PR perspective. Everything in the spotlight. Like it or leave it.

Caroline's myspace website wouldn't have been out there for the entire world to see if he interfered. ;)

I think its great that she's sharing her views :clapper:

How could he stop her before he knew she put her opinion on the internet?

You mean shared...she's not sharing them anymore is she?

Why isn't she sharing them anymore?

Perhaps because daddy interfered?

She's not sharing them anymore because sharing her views with thirteen year olds and sexual predators is not worth submarining her dad's political career.

I think there are two things to investigate here.

1. If I'm paying for her college and she lamblasts me or undercuts my campaign, Republican or Democrat, I would have no problem showing her the brochere's for New York Community College. It sounds harsh but as long as I'm footing the bill, especially a Harvard bill, I'd appreciate, at most, some family support, or, at the very least, for my child to keep silent.

2. Who's daughter is she? Obviously (she's 17) she's the daughter of the woman Rudy cheated on. Mom and Dad were together for quite awhile and the affair Rudy got caught in and the way he treated his Ex were pretty bad.

People this is a daughter taking a swipe at daddy, then being told that running for POTUS isn't something to screw with.

I'd be willing to bet that the majority of people who've gone through a divorce where they're in the wrong have had to deal with a child acting up....of course, as a Democrat I think that this is hilarious and can't wait for the primaries where Rudy has his ass handed to him on moral issues from the other Republicans. :madlaugh:

.... not worth submarining her dad's political career. He can do that, fine all by himself.

Maybe the kid still hates her dad because he brought skanks home with him while he was still married.

The asswipe disrespected his family. My "Rotten Rudy" thread was deleted, otherwise I could point you to a dozen reasons why his daughter wouldnt vote for her nefarious dad. She knows why the FDNY hates Rudy..... America should listen to the FDNY

Chelsy still supports Bill, as far as I know…..
Is that the official position? Its OK because Bill Clinton did it?

I suppose that logic would justify this alliance, too:

Laura Bush was plenty pissed when that happened to her. She got even at the Correspondants Dinner. She ratted him out for masturbating a Horse (male horse).
If bush jacks off a stallion.... is he GAY??

At least we cant act all surprised if Rotten Rudy pulls one of these stunts after (GodfuckingForbid) he gets the part for "Presitard Part II".

If you play with a snake... you'll wake up with fleas! (See how I combined 2 valid metaphors to save some typing.... and then made MORE work for myself by explaining it? :ponder:)
