Hello,

My name is Alex Alvarez and I am a high school student in Spain. I am doing a research project for school about the US two-party political system. I would be thankful if you could help me with my research by completing a brief survey that I have created on this topic.

The questionnaire is very quick and the confidentiality of your responses is completely guaranteed.

Please click on the link below to begin the survey. Please kindly forward this email to others who can participate.

Alex,

In researching the two party system I would look at the formatting of our constitution. It can tell you a lot about how it is supposed to work and its intentions. I would also talk to the libertarians. They are usually the largest third party and have the best ideas about the 2 party system.

From your research so far what do you think about our government? How does it compare to Spain’s?

Our system is only two party by default, not two party because it is 'supposed' to be. In fact, the 'founding fathers' were generally against partisanship but that didn't last more than 5 minutes ;)

Hey Alex why did you post the same post and the same survey in Current Events, Political Party Forum, and Advertising and Promotion? It's rather annoying seeing that same thing 3 times.

The Libertarian Party hasn’t done any better than 4th place in a presidential election since 1988. It was 4th place in 1992 and was in 5th place in every election since then.

In terms of party membership and the number of candidates nominated for office and the number of candidates elected to office the Constitution Party is likely bigger than the Libertarian Party is now, although the Constitution Party does have many libertarian planks in its platform.

Also note that since 1992 most of the 3rd/4th place presidential candidates have been liberals like Ralph Nader and Ross Perot. If libertarians supported these candidates in any great number, it just shows that libertarianism is closer to liberalism than it is conservativism.
