I don't see it as "failed" humor. It was brief and to the point. It's really a hell of a lot easier if you have even half a brain to expound on right wing points of view, simply because they're so two-dimensional, without nuance or ambiguity. Just about anyone can manage it.

The reason the audience found it so funny? It was a graduation speech. After hearing from Valedictorian, Prehistoric bag of bones, Doctorate somebody, read list of names, you butt falls asleep for the fourth time on some cheap folding chair ($20,000 a year and this is all they can do?), another administrative relic from the stone age, some student over achiever the first, second, third, fourth and fifth and finally someone cracks a joke, even if it's a fart joke it's hilarious.

Even aside from that, it was funny all by itself. But I don’t like Ann.
