I wonder how long it will be before Brown is labelled a "poodle?"

Britain's new prime minister, Gordon Brown, has disappointed American and British critics of the war in Iraq by declaring that he believes the West is involved in a "generation-long battle" against radical Islamic terrorism, that he believes the American mission in Iraq is worthwhile, and that he will stand by President Bush in his efforts to promote democracy in Iraq and in the rest of the Middle East.

After a four-hour meeting yesterday, which followed a two-hour discussion with the president at Camp David over dinner Sunday night, Mr. Brown offered little encouragement to those who hoped that the departure of Prime Minister Blair from Downing Street would lead to a weakening of the traditional alliance between America and Britain or would diminish the British resolve in Iraq.

"We are at one in fighting the battle against terrorism, and that struggle is one that we will fight with determination and with resilience and right across the world," Mr. Brown said at a press conference at the presidential mountain retreat.

While repeating his aim to hand over to "the democratic government of Iraq" the administration of the southern Iraqi province that surrounds Basra when security conditions allow, Mr. Brown did not flinch from his support of Mr. Bush, the war in Iraq, the war in Afghanistan, or the wider war against terrorism.

I don't know. He looks more like a bassett hound to me

That's easy to say, as your planning to hand over a province and bring home how many men?

Lets just wait and see what comes down the pike now that Brown has not tossed aside the tie with the US and the war on terror as so many predicted he would.

I believe that he will be the recipient of all sorts of abuse for not signing on to the scorched earth hooha that seems so prevalent today.

After reading the transcript of yesterdays' presser, it sounds as if Brown has not yet jumped into Bush' lap-
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/07/20070730.html
I will offer a few excerpts -...Terrorism is not a cause, it is a crime, and it is a crime against humanity
Completely contradicts Bush.
...Afghanistan is the front line against terrorism,.
Ad what are we doing in Iraq?
...Our aim, as is the aim of the United States government, is threefold: security for the Iraqi people, political reconciliation, and that the Iraqis have a stake in the future..
Here Brown put his front paws on juniors' lap.
The phrase " a stake in the future " spells out that we will insist on a puppet government, and never allow autonomy.
...On Iran, we are in agreement that sanctions are working and the next stage we are ready to move towards is to toughen the sanctions with a further U.N. resolution.
Here, either Bush lied to Brown, or Brown lied to us. Sanctions are just a stop along the way.

In the Q&A, both retreated from these statements. They had to.
I was pleased to see that the stenographers were actually paying attention.
Although I would much rather preferred that these two not be allowed to revise history so soon.

This presser was full of statements which could be analyzed, but that shall fall to another time.
