Here’s something you should know before you buy your kids new clothes at American Eagle Outfitters this summer. The company talks about social responsibility but when it comes to the people who make their business work—the men and women who pack and ship clothes to Canadian stores at a contractor called NLS—AE falls short. I’m working with a labor union called Unite Here to let people know about the story behind the label. You can find more information at AmericanVulture.org (http://www.americanvulture.org).

Thanks and let me know if you have any questions. Oh, we have a YouTube clip (http://youtube.com/watch?v=BvgEKhnh3sI&mode=user&search=) from from one of our rallies against AE.
Third time is a charm...

Preserva has a thing about workers organizing for better pay and working conditions.

Workers wanted a union because they had not received raises in two to three years, lacked a fair process to move into permanent employment, dealt with daily disrespect from management, and faced unfair policy changes, like increased hours before overtime is paid.

AE has not taken any steps to enforce its own Code of Conduct at NLS, where management engaged in harassment and intimidation of workers trying to form a union with UNITE HERE.

Unions are good in some circumstances, but they've basically been their own undoing. $20/ hour janitors seem to cause your company to move to China, or go broke. Not good.

I agree with Mayberry. They are useful to an extent but people need to know when to dissipate them. We are now facing an epidemic of outsourcing, a result of rising labor costs some of which are unreasonable. Is there another way to reach companies other than through unions?
