No way Romney is going to get even past the primaries. Too many men outnumber those who believe in polygamy.
For most normal men, ONE wife is enough. Sometimes too much LOL!
He doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell unless the Mormons buy a zillion people off.

Purrs,

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to call you out for that post. Its extremely obvious how ignorant that post is to anyone that understands the Mormon faith even just a little bit. Have you been hanging out with Al Sharpton?

Purrs,

You have shocked me more times than any poster here. You come out with views that seem completely unlike yourself.

Yes Romney's religion will harm him. No, it's not fair. The Mormon Church has denounced polygamy and now excommunicates those who practice it. Romney also condemns it. Yet that doesn't stop bigots from denouncing him for being a member of a Church that over 100 years ago practiced polygamy. Makes about as much sense as denouncing people for living in a state that 150 years ago practiced slavery. Then again, bigotry doesn't have to be sensible.

It's probably the view of the unwashed masses though...

So far we have the two most famous as the front runners, Hillary and Rudy. Most people don't pay as close attention to the facts as we do, sadly.

Look, i know this for a fact. I once studied with the Mormons. Now. What I need here is people who have studied with them for 17 months...over a year. I understand the religion. I am also active in political issues here, in my own back yard. Look. The Christians outnumber the Mormons. You don't really think Christians would embrace polygamy, either here or in the afterlife? I have seen right here, right now. Anyone willing to argue this fact, call me out on it. Otherwise, I think perhaps there is some re-thinking to do on this issue. I am not wrong on this, from personal experience.

Living in Vegas I have met a great deal of Mormons and on occassion had discussions about their faith. I do not get the impression they go against their Church. 100 years ago they allowed the drinking of beer...now they don't and most "good" Mormons follow that even though the founder John Smith did drink beer and advocate it.

If there was a religion I would go for...it would be Mormon over most others. Every Mormon I have met seems to live a fairly relaxed peaceful life. Whatever the religion does for them...it works. I see no evidence of polygamy here being touted by Mormons and that's my personal experience.

If Romney doesn't get the ticket it certainly won't be because he is a Mormon..if anything that's a plus for him.

You all will see, believe me. He doesn't stand a chance. Let's see who's right on this, okay? I'm willing to wait.

I agree that he doesn't have a chance but should you be spreading completely ignorant rumors about him and his religion?

Many purrs to all,

Sure you studied with Mormons for 17 months, and I am a direct descendant of King Kong...it is a typical response when you are caught making false statements to claim some superior knowledge based on personal study. If you had studied even one month, you would not be saying that Christians outnumber Mormons, indicating that Mormons are not Christians. I was rasied a Baptist in the southeast, and heard a lot of that kind of crap over the years. It is bigotry, and even violates a commandemnt, that of bearing false witness. Repent, sinner!:nana:

I used to think Thomson was a good choice, but the more I see and hear I'm now leaning toward Romney.
Incidentally, if The GOP put up VoilaLee or Pookie, I would vote for them just to keep that fascist Stalinist, Hillary Clinton out of the White House.
Whatever it takes to dodge that dangerous and destructive bullet known as Mrs Bill Clinton, I will do.
Nominating Romney just to garner the Evangelical vote, is a small price to pay to preserve a nation!

Romney is a Mormon, and in many peoples' minds, Mormonism is a cult and unacceptable. I defend my thinking on this. People will not accept him because of the polygamy thing which is associated with most Mormons.
Mark my words, folks, he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell. Let's see what happens in '08.
Oh and by the way, has anyone bothered to notice that the statue of Joseph Smith in front of the Salt Lake Temple has his hand stretched out toward the bank across the street? Interesting.
And yes, I did study with them. A man will have many wives in the top level of heaven and the wives will give birth to spirit children. Mormons also wear "garments" -- special underwear that insures modesty.
Anyone ever read the "Doctrine and Covenants"? or better yet, "The Pearl of Great Price"? Might be interesting to know that these so-called 'golden tablets' in New York have never been found.
Want more info? Google Mormons and educate yourselves. I dare you.

This is approaching "the Jews control everything!" levels.

Sometimes the rest of America scares me. Why can't liberals run every state like Massachusetts? I don't remember hearing anything about Romney being Mormon when he ran here. People just didn't care.

Sometimes I think it won't be long before I'm sitting in a room, with a giant map of the rest of America, repeating to myself over and over "make them go away".

Purrs,

Google? If you want to know what Baptists believe, ask a Catholic. If you want to know what the Pope believes, ask a buddhist. If you want to know what a mormon believes, google ignorant bigot.
Just being facetious, really. The best source for what Baptists believe will be a baptist, same for catholics, and for mormons. It really is that simple.
Name any religion that doesn't have some dark aspect or strange belief, Pookie. Just one. Heck, name your own.....that would take some courage on your part, tho. Some of us here might just point out the flaws of your religion, based on OUR ignorance and prejudice, or maybe we will be right, and you will be wrong. Take a chance?
