Armenia, Azerbaijan and Ukraine have banned the import of pig meat products from Georgia. The ostensible purpose is connected with outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in the Eastern Georgia. President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili has already made a declaration that this information is all bluff, though in fact at least 35,000 pigs in Georgian villages and commercial farms have been slaughtered by now. Saakashvili is trying now to make a bargain with friendly Baltic states and Czechia to export surplus of wine and pig meat, which poses a threat of spread of ASF to Europe.
According to information received from bacteriologists, Georgian pig meat is infected either with mutagenized virus or some undefined virus isomorphic of ASF.
