Liberal groups treat Hillary to jeers, cheers
(http://washtimes.com/national/20060614-123641-8049r.htm)
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton was treated to both heckles and cheers yesterday by liberal activists in a mixed day for the New York Democrat on the campaign trail.

Yesterday morning, Mrs. Clinton spoke at the "Take Back America" conference, held at the Washington Hilton. Protesters upset with Mrs. Clinton's vote to authorize the Iraq war in 2002 stood outside the hotel with a sign that read, "It takes one bomb to raze a village."

Before Mrs. Clinton arrived, event organizer Robert Borosage asked the crowd to be respectful toward her and the other speakers, saying, "We owe them our courteous attention."

Mrs. Clinton took the stage to a standing ovation with only a few scattered boos from the crowd. However, when she said that "it is not a smart strategy" to set a deadline for withdrawal of troops from Iraq, Mrs. Clinton was loudly booed by the audience. At the end of her speech, the crowd began to chant, "Bring them home."

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Sen. John Kerry followed Mrs. Clinton and were treated to enthusiastic applause in their calls for an immediate withdrawal of American troops from Iraq.

"Have you had enough of a war that is failing to make America secure?" Mrs. Pelosi, California Democrat, asked the crowd.

The bulk of Mr. Kerry's speech dealt with Iraq, including the announcement of his intention to introduce legislation in the Senate this week calling for an up-or-down vote on troop withdrawal.

"A war in Iraq founded on a lie can never be true to America's character," said Mr. Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat.

Speaking of cynicism and greed, here's the Red Queen moving to the center to avoid being painted as a left wing extremist. She's clearly confident of her ability to take the surrender monkeys on in the Democratic primaries in 2008.

The others, including Kerry, are excerising the option of moving off the left edge of the table in an attempt to corral those wily lefties who vote in primaries. Then they'll march back to the middle for the general election and pretend they didn't advocate cutting and running.

Who cares what the radicals in that room think. Hillary clinton will still beat out any other candidate in the democratic party. Personally, I want John Kerry to win again so we can ensure john mccain is elected in 2008. Kerry doesn't stand a chance. Honestly though, its 2 years and 6 months away. A lot of things can happen in that amount of time.

Why why would anyone want a traitor like McCain to be president? Isn't Bush bad enough?

And don't be too sure that the Red Queen would lose. The Democrats were actively campaigning FOR Traitor McCain in 2000 and boosting him in 2004. They WANT him to run. Why? Either because he'll give them all the programs they want, just like Bush has, or because they know real Americans detest him and won't vote for him.

I am voting for McCain if he is on the ballot. Not everyone is all the way to the right. Polls show that McCain can beat just about anyone.

No way McCain makes it through the primaries.

The base absolutely hates him. As do I.

Yeah we spoke on this before. I don't agree though. If you think the 'base' of the Republican party is the hardline right wingers then maybe you are right. However I tend to think that the majority of voting republicans lean more toward the middle as do most democrats. McCain is a problem for the right wing since he truely does lean toward the middle. However consider the alternative...a democrat for president. At least with McCain in the house the Republicans still have the white house. I really doubt the Republicans can get lucky again and get anyone even leaning to the right to win again. Bush won with a lot of support from the base but he also won as a "compassionate conservative"...whatever that was suppose to mean.

McCain is a good guy imho. He seems to get things done or at least makee honest attempts. He imho has a strong sense of morals and values. I think he also supports the Iraq war and won't leave. Gay marriage..that's a problem but it's that problem that might get votes from undecideds.

Think of it this way. If McCain wins the primary. Who else will the hardcore right vote for? I really can't see them voting for Hillary. McCain offers an opportunity for the republicans to gain more democratic voters in 2008.

McCain (alleged Republican):

Junior partner in the Keating Five.

Mastermind of the tax the poor to feed the lawyers tobacco scam.

Architect of the Let's Rape the First Amendment to Protect the Incumbents and sell it as "Campaign Finance Reform".

Master Headsman behind Bush's treasonous amnesty for invaders plot.

He's done so much evil, it's hard to keep track of it all, I must admit. Almost as bad as a Clinton.

Anyone of those four would be sufficient, anyway.

The "hard right", for the last five elections, has had to take a liberal hiding as a moderate as their candidate because of exactly this argument.

McCain smells so bad I don't think the people that really care about America will vote for him. And if Hillary wins instead, so what? What damage could the Red Queen do that McCain hasn't already tried?

Perhaps, since it's only 2006, the GOP can try to find a real candidate? One that doesn't think the answer to lawlessness is to give the law breakers amnesty? One who doesn't see government as a means of enriching lawyers?

"Compassionate Conservative" was doublespeak for "flaming liberal".

That's what Bush's net effect was on the US. Massive spending, more and bigger social programs, and a war. Johnson did that, too.

Perhaps if the Republicans would stop worshipping winning and start evaluating programs the party would find candidates that made the average American enthusiastic about voting FOR the GOP again, instead of against the congruent party, the Democrats?

I'm not sure why nathan thinks bush gave liberals what they wanted.

But, honestly, I love this argument. The base hates mccain, and the people the base love don't have a shot unless the opposing democrat implodes or someone like Dean gets through. Mccain is the nightmare candidate for the left, but it appears you guys will do away with him yourselves.

On behalf of liberals everywhere, I thank you.

I agree. Except I think McCain does stand a chance even though the base doesn't want to support him. I have voted Republican forever and I consider myself a staunch GOPer...I would vote for McCain in a heartbeat. I think many others agree but of course not everyone does.

They got No Child Left Behind, an education boondoggle if there ever was one.

They got the PATRIOT Act, something they wanted under Clinton.

They got a drug entitlement for old farts.

Ted Turner got a subsidy for his farm.

They've got the Republicans bending over backwards to give amnesty to millions of future Democrat voters, and annoying the Republican grassroots at the same time.

What more could a liberal want?

Oh! They got Americans dying on battlefields overseas, too.

Actually, hispanics voted for bush. The borders should be secured and we should allow the aliens a chance to get citizenship prior to background checks. They need to prove that they intend to join our society and not just make money then move back to mexico, thats not what immigration is about.

Actually, hispanics voted for bush. The borders should be secured and we should allow the aliens a chance to get citizenship prior to background checks.

Why? They broke laws to get here. We want temporary workers? Make them apply back in Mexico...at THE END OF THE LINE. That's called "fair".

They need to prove that they intend to join our society and not just make money then move back to mexico, thats not what immigration is about.

Right. The first thing they should do is go back to Mexico, fill out forms which by law should only be accepted in the applicant's nation of origin, and then wait in line just like all the rest.

Since both Bush and McCain want to give citizenship away to lawbreakers, they're both traitors.

Yes, that is what they should do. But its completely unreasonable to do that. 11 million illegals aren't just going to turn themselves in so they can be sent back to mexico and be put in the back of the line. Its not going to happen. We need to figure out the best way to deal with these illegals. If they are guilty of nothing more than illegal entry to this country, we should put them on a path towards citizenship. We also need to allow more people to immigrate to our country legally.

They got No Child Left Behind, an education boondoggle if there ever was one.

And bush never funded.

They got the PATRIOT Act, something they wanted under Clinton.

Not true, it is an expansion on things previously proposed.

They got a drug entitlement for old farts.

They've got the Republicans bending over backwards to give amnesty to millions of future Democrat voters, and annoying the Republican grassroots at the same time.

I see no amnesty, and no democrats calling for amnesty. I also see a bill that neither side truly supports.

What more could a liberal want?

A quality president. One who treats war like it has consequences. One who doesn't cut spending for social programs, one that can balance the budget, one that doesn't send military spending skyrocketing, one who is actually competent in international diplomacy, one who doesn't spend his timing passing hateful bills like same sex marriage amendment he keeps trying to pass, and one who doesn't waste the time of the congress introducing bills he know that will fail.

Oh!Â*Â*They got Americans dying on battlefields overseas, too.

Conservatives like to kill kittens!

Actually, that one has more basis in reality, since at least one conservative leader did that (Frist), while no liberal leader has ever wanted americans to die.

I can just picture you sitting in the middle of the woods, in a shack filled with rifles and ammunition, with your survivalist friends waiting for the government to attack.

If it hasn't been funded then why are all the pinkos screaming about it?Â*Â*Just knee-jerk reflexes?

They got the PATRIOT Act, something they wanted under Clinton.

Not true, it is an expansion on things previously proposed.

Yeah, that's what I said.Â*Â*The PATRIOT Act is a compilation of things proposed by Democrats during Clinton's reign that were rejected rightfully by Republicans as being detrimental to American freedom, if not downright unconstititutional.Â*Â*It's passage in panic after September 11th is indicative of the lack of real difference between the two parties.

They've got the Republicans bending over backwards to give amnesty to millions of future Democrat voters, and annoying the Republican grassroots at the same time.

I see no amnesty, and no democrats calling for amnesty. I also see a bill that neither side truly supports.

Then wipe the excrement off your eyes and look at what's being proposed.Â*Â*People who've entered this country illegally are being promised rewards.Â*Â*That's "amnesty' by any honest evaluation.

And as for neither side, Bush supports it, and McCain authored it.Â*Â*Which is what's relevant to what I had to say.

You're not gonna find that in a Democrat.Â*Â*Not a Republican, either.Â*Â*And certainly not in Hillary, wife of "I Loathe the Military" Clinton, or John Sell Out McCain.Â*Â*And you'll never find it if you want a president that can both balance the budget and not cut social programs.

How about if we just get a president that keeps his promise to protect the Constitution?Â*Â*That'll be "quality", anyway..

Oh!Â*Â*They got Americans dying on battlefields overseas, too.

Conservatives like to kill kittens!

I knew there had to be something admirable about Conservatives.Â*Â*Thanks for letting me know what it is.

So far, its Cons 1, Lib -99.

Actually, that one has more basis in reality, since at least one conservative leader did that (Frist), while no liberal leader has ever wanted americans to die.

Eh?Â*Â*Wilson forced the US into WWI.Â*Â*And then there was Johnson and his bogus Tonkin Gulf incident.Â*Â*That one got more than 50,000 Americans killed.Â*Â*And there wasn't any reason for the US to get involved in the Balkans, except that Bill Clinton needed some long term news to divert American attention away from the Cox Report that detailed his corruption with the PLA.

Oh, no, the pinkos never wanted Americans to die on the battlefield.
