NOVOSIBIRSK, June 1 (RIA Novosti) - Fuel for Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant can be shipped from West Siberia within three days, an expert at the Novosibirsk nuclear fuel production facility said Friday.
Russia's Atomstroyexport is building the Bushehr facility, Iran's first nuclear power plant, under a 1995 agreement in the south of the Islamic Republic and is to supply fuel six month prior to the physical launch.
"The fuel is being stored in transport containers and can be sent to the Bushehr NPP within three days after an order," Alexander Ustyugov said.
The $1-billion project, implemented under the supervision of the UN nuclear watchdog, was threatened with suspension after the Russian contractor said in February that Tehran had only covered 60% of the required funding by the fourth quarter of 2006, and had completely stopped payment in mid-January.
A source in the Russian Nuclear Power Agency said last week that Tehran had paid only $20 million since the beginning of the year, although the contract stipulates $25 million monthly payments to complete the project on schedule.
"The project has become unprofitable for us," the source said, adding that the completion of the plant now depends entirely on the Iranian side, and that the key remaining issue is the guaranteed financing for its construction.
The construction of the Bushehr NPP was expected to be completed July 8, 1999, but the deadline has been revised five times since then.

Well Saigio, the first picture is definately a fake. And my point about this poking holes in his credibility and the stories credibility stands.

Does anyone really expect Russia to sit back and do nothing as the Cheney pushes for war on Iran?
btw... I doubt the BBC would publish a fake photo. Come on now.

Iran vows to continue nuclear program despite new UN sanctions
03/ 06/ 2007
TEHRAN, June 3 (RIA Novosti) - Iran will continue its nuclear program despite UN Security Council new possible sanctions against the Islamic Republic, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said Sunday.
Since Iran resumed uranium enrichment in January 2006, the country has been the focus of international concerns, as some Western countries, particularly the U.S., suspect Tehran is pursuing a covert weapons program. But Tehran has consistently claimed it needs nuclear power for civilian power generation and is fully entitled to its own nuclear program.
At the same time, Hosseini said Iran continued cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the agency's inspectors were carrying out checks of Iranian nuclear facilities.
"If the review of the Iran nuclear dossier returns to the IAEA, the Islamic Republic is prepared to reach an agreement on settling a few remaining problems with the agency in the coming weeks," Hosseini said.

Ali Ardashir Larijani (Persian: علی اردشیر لاریجاÙâ€*ÛŒ; born 1958) is an Iranian politician, and the current secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran . He was appointed to this position by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on August 15, 2005 replacing Hassan Rowhani. He is one of the two representatives of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei to the council. In his post as secretary he effectively functions as the top negotiator on issues of national security, including Iran's nuclear program. As the secretary of the council, he has reversed the submissive and retroactive policies of the reformists under Hassan Rowhani, who had agreed to systematically suspend all nuclear enrichments without any condition.

Sorry bout that,
1. Yes and that's why I'm here.
2. To reveal the *Bigger Picture*.
3. The *Big Picture*, goes like this.
4. Putin wants to build up an alliance with the Arabs, in order that they don't attack Russia.
5. He really would rather not belly up to Iran, etc.
6. But seeing there isn't another Nuclear Nation willing to negotiate with a mad man, he got the job, by default.
7. He can also sell them a bunch of used cr@p, that they won't know the difference in that regard.
8. So he looks at it as a win/win situtation.

Russia could complete Iran's NPP shortly - nuclear chief
04/ 06/ 2007
KIEV, June 4 (RIA Novosti) - Russia could complete the construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant promptly if Iran ensured uninterrupted funding, Russia's nuclear chief, who is on a visit to Ukraine, said Monday.
Iran's first NPP was threatened with suspension after the Russian contractor said in February that Tehran had only covered 60% of the required funding by the fourth quarter of 2006, and completely stopped payments in mid-January. Iran denied any payment problems and accused Russia of delays.
"This project could be completed in the shortest time possible, when funding is ensured," Sergei Kiriyenko, the Nuclear Power Agency head, said.
Kiriyenko said Iran had allocated about $20 million since the start of this year, whereas the contract stipulated $25 million monthly payments. Kiriyenko also complained about delays in equipment supplies from third countries and denied any delays caused by Russia.
The $1-billion project has been implemented under the supervision of the UN nuclear watchdog as the Islamic Republic has been suspected of seeking to build nuclear weapons under the cover of a civilian program. Tehran insisted it only wants nuclear energy.
The Islamic Republic is facing a new round of UN Security Council sanctions over its defiance of international demands to halt uranium enrichment, which could be used both in electricity generation and weapons production.

This explains why Russia doesn't want our Nuke Defense System in Europe. I think we need to stop spinning around the problem and bomb Iran while we still have the chance. Maybe carry the "Big Stick" to Russia...
Just a Suggestion:D

Because Russia, according to this article, is helping Iran to get Nuclear power in Iran in exchange for Green. if we have a nuke defense system, Iranian Shipments will slow.

If US wants to shield itself from the Iran's missiles, than US can set up a system in Iraq, Kuwait or Israel and NOT in Poland. :D
I mean... come on...
Take a look at the map... Do you see where Poland is?
But here's one problem - Iran does NOT have the kind of missiles that can reach American continent.
The same with North Korea of course...

Nor do they have any nuclear warheads to put on them. This is yet another Bush foreign policy blunder centered around the conspiracy theory that Iran is building a nuclear bomb to blow someone up.

Yet. nprk is most definitely working on one, they have already tested it once.
And russia is most definitely on iran's side in all this. Russia would ship them a 12-pack of nukes if they could get away with it. Russia needs the cash badly and could care less about the rise of islamic extremism.

I think we might not be reading between the lines. My question is, if Iran wants nuclear power and/or weapons, why would they stop paying Russia?
First off Iran is an oil producing nation, though not as big as Saudi Arabia nor do they have the low cost of getting the oil as Iraq...they are an oil producing nation non the less. With that said, why do they need nuke power? For weapons manufacturing of course.
But more to the point. If Iran stopped paying on this nuke facility, what could they be putting that money towards? I doubt they are saving it for a rainy day, or for an Olympic bid.....

Good point. Lukewarm interest in the nuke plant, fervent interest in producing "fuel".

Nuclear watchdog warns against war on Iran
14/ 06/ 2007
VIENNA, June 14 (RIA Novosti) - The chief of the international nuclear watchdog warned Thursday against a military operation against Iran's controversial nuclear program.
Mohamed ElBaradei, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), described the military option against Iran, urged by some U.S. politicians, as an act of madness, which will not solve the core problem.
http://img.rian.ru/images/1445/18/14451826.jpg
But he also called on the IAEA Board of Governors to keep a closer eye on Iran, which, he said, would have up to 3,000 enrichment centrifuges by the end of next month, building up enrichment capacity but failing to guarantee its peaceful intent.
ElBaradei underscored the significance of the developments in the coming months for a successful resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue.
Iran has been under international sanctions since last year for failing to prove the peaceful nature of its nuclear program. Russia is building a nuclear power plant in the south of Iran and will provide fuel for it, but Iran has announced it will develop its own enrichment capability.
Iran's existing centrifuges are believed to be technologically capable of producing weapons-usable uranium.

Creating atmosphere for free interactions among press duties - Ahmadinejad
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Monday at opening ceremony of Iran's first 7-24 English news satellite television, Press TV, "Creating an atmosphere of positive interactions at intellectual and logical scenes is among the duties of this justice seeking media."
The president added, "The literature employed at justice seeking media is different from the one used at one that is after
strengthening the pillars of hegemony, since the first one is the literature of loving the mankind, defending the oppressed, and safeguarding the nobility of humanity, while the second one is after looting the nations."
The president elaborated, "There are two reasons why we need to enter the scene today: firstly, because both us, and the mankind are under the media onslaught, and secondly, because due to our Islamic beliefs, we cannot remain indifferent to the fate of the mankind." Ahmadinejad pointed out that despite fake claims on free flow of information and respect for the personality of the individuals, the western media are moving in the opposite direction today, serving as a tool at the service of the world oppressor powers.
He set example as the Western media's role in paving the path for the occupation, and for stabilizing the status of the occupiers at the world scene.
President Ahmadinejad focusing on the beginning of Press TV's official media activities, said, "This media should be the standard bearer of peace, friendship, and lasting security in the world." According to IRNA Political Desk reporter, the IRI President added, "Our media should be fully free from all vices that have polluted the world."
Stressing that for us, the goals do not justify taking advantage of all possible means, he said, "This media should be a model for the rest and if its staff would act properly, the enthusiasts, and those who wish to enter this scene, would follow suit."
The president added that all those wishing to launch media today take models from the Western press, trying to imitate even their anchors and reporters gestures and moves, but the Press TV can present a different model, of news dissemination, reporters' conduct, and anchor men's style.
Before President Ahmadinejad's address the IRIB Chief Ezzatollah Zarqami gave a brief report on his affiliate organ's foreign services, the process of launching the Press TV, and the range of its activities.
He said, "Press TV would create an atmosphere in which the world nations would get acquainted with a different viewpoint about the world news and political analysis."
