Oh wait a minute, sure we do.

U.S. engages in talks with Iran on Iraq security (http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/05/28/news/iraq.php)

Iran, inducted January 19, 1984 into the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

We don’t do nation building.

Iraq nation (unbuilding and subsequent attempt at re)building ground breaking: March 2003

Reagan negotiated with terrorists and hostage takers. Carter didn't. Carter tried to bomb them. But not hard enough. Clinton didn't negotiate. Clinton had them arrested, tried and imprisoned. Bush negotiates with terrorists. How nice. How typical.

Republicans LOVE Reagan and about half of them still support Bush. Why do Republicans condone negotiating with terrorists?

ViolaLee, I agree with the sentiment, but..

The problem is that fundamentalist macho sounding statements sound great and work well in elections, but most are total bullshit in practice.

Bringing Israel and Palestine together to make peace isn't the same thing as negotiating with terrorists. You can't compare what Clinton did with what Reagan or Bush did. Clinton didn't sell arms to terrorists like Reagan did.

I love it!
Remember when Mrs. Bill Clinton laid a wet one on Mrs. Arafat?
Priceless

Points well taken.
However, to compare Clinton with Bush or Reagan is grasping at straws.

Clinton was impeached and is an adulturer and a liar, among other things.
That is his legacy, get used to it.

Sssshhhhh. Lets not talk about Nancy Pelosi's trip to commune with Bashar Al Assad of Syria.

She can balance gradchildren and the nation on her knee, all while undermining our foreign policy at the same time.
What a Woman!

She will be the first to go if we lose to the Islamofaciasts.
All the head-gear in the world won't stop that.

Congresswoman (Speaker) Pelosi is a good diplomat. Some men don't want to give a woman credit, no matter how successful her efforts at achieving peace.

I'm glad to see you say that, Survivor. Pelosi was brave to take the initiative in Syria. What few people realize is that she was accompanied by a couple of republicans as well. This "we don't negotiate with terrorists" stuff is ridiculous. Any place, any time we can improve the chances for peace, it's worth the trouble. And that's always been the case.

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA),
"... Democrats and Muslim Americans," Pelosi said. "We share a fundamental principle ..."

Over a third of American Muslims under 30, according to Rassmussen, advocate suicide bombings in the name of Islam.

The point Viola is that in order to do that he had to negotiate with Arafat, a terrorist if ever I saw one.

However, I don't know that Clinton ever made a "We don't negotiate with terrorists" statement.

What is the alternative in the Palestinian - Israeli conflict? No negotiation? Some peace efforts are justifiable and since Arafat represented the Palestinian people, peace negotiations with him were justified.

But anyhoo..

Clinton was impeached and is an adulturer and a liar, among other things.
That is his legacy, get used to it.

Yep... he committed adultery and lied about it. wow... as do millions of other human beings. But, his legacy is hardly confined to that. He was one of the greatest Presidents this country has ever had and is loved and respected around the world. A claim that can never and will never be a part of George or Dick's legacy!

LIARS and criminals of the worst order, they are responsible for the murders of hundreds of thousands of innocent human beings, American, Iraqis and Afghani's.

Sssshhhhh. Lets not talk about Nancy Pelosi's trip to commune with Bashar Al Assad of Syria.

Ssssssshhhh... Lets not talk about the Republican representative that accompanied her team.

And lets definitely not MENTION the group of Republican Representatives who left to COMMUNE with Bashar Al Assad of Syria... right about the same time as she went.

Hypocrits.

oh ok. Cool then. As long as you're be equal opportunity...

But anyways... I see nothing wrong with negotiating with terrorists or nation leaders, elected or dictator as long as it brings about peace.

This nation has a long history of negotiating with other nations who today would be considered rogue, brutal dicatator regimes. Stalin or Idi Amin anyone?? There are many others.

Currently, we apparently have no problem working even with Iran!

Criticism at Pelosi is just cheap shots cause she's a Democrat. Its all partisan. I guess no GOPer has a complaint with our recent negotiations with Iran??? So far I have heard little from the right about it. But, you can be sure if it was led by a Democrat the right would be having major drama about it.

It appears we agree on this issue, Buck Laser. I think Congresswoman (Speaker) Pelosi is a good diplomat.
