Republicans, as the 20th Century Democrats have already done, are losing their core principles. They seem to be in hot pursuit of the Democrats, assuming that victory at the polls means being just like them. America began in New England, where people found they could finally stand on their own two feet, be free to be what they could become, own property and what they produced on it. They believed their Creator gave them their rights and they created their governments limited to protecting those rights. Armed with a Christian moral code, they pioneered, created, built and became individually prosperous, resulting in prosperous communities. Defined by the Declaration of Independence, and by the enormous success of their nation, individual liberty confronted the world. When compared to nations whose people are still under the yoke of dictatorships, America became that City on a Hill worthy of emulation. Democrats once believed in America’s core principles. They have abandoned them for Old World ideals, where the few elite manage the many. The Republicans picked up the torch of liberty and carried it for 150 years, until now when many of them are smothering the flame for personal power. Do we have any courageous idealists like Lincoln and Reagan today? Is the Party worth saving? If not, what alternative?

Just so you know, the good puritans of new england killed and excommunicated those they opposed. And many christians were sent packing, just ask Roger Williams.

Republicans are lost. They've abandoned their conservative values for the most part. They've lost touch with their base, and married the corporations. Democrats have lost touch with reality as well. Boy do I wish a 3rd party could get a foothold.

The GOP was turned around in 1964 when Goldwater was the nominee of the party, and the liberal limousene RINO's had to fade into the background with Rockefeller. Now, the Rockefeller cabal has regained control of the GOP and it will take another "Goldwater" to turn it around. Right now, I see newt Gingrich as the only one who could bring it back, even though I doubt he could win the presidency. Our only hope is to take back the GOP, otherwise we may never get a chance if the election rules and controls shift to the "Chicago Democrat" style of ballot management.

That's right! Too many Republicans did it and left the party looking as holy as swiss cheese.
