I just wanted to be the first guy to post that.
:-)
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the most wanted terrorist in Iraq, was killed in a coalition airstrike near Baquba, jubilant U.S. and Iraqi authorities announced Thursday.
Al-Zarqawi's killing is a major coup for the embattled coalition forces.
Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, Gen. George Casey, the highest-ranking U.S. commander in Iraq, and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad announced the development at a news conference.
Read more at CNN but discuss this here.

Taken straight from the kook farm, aka "The Democrat's Base". (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x2327738)
- Convenient too that this would happen now....guess we should just all forget about that Haditha mess, the fact that we are approaching 2,500 dead and the fact that our economy is in big trouble.
- The little boy cried wolfÂ*Â*Sorry. Don't buy it.
- Don't worry, he's not dead.
In a few months, Shrub will wake up in his bed, go into his bathroom, open the shower door and there al-Zarqawi will be. It will all have been a dream.
- PsssT! This guy is a "PsyOps" creation. Absurd one at that!
- Gawd! Please, no disrespect - but this is only "a tool" that is used by the BushBotBorg to pick-up morale. It sort of equates to 1984 Announcements that our "chocolate rations" will be upped for the next month.
Translation: He's a fictitious character.
- It's almost an "open joke" among the military and civilians who know how PsyOps operate, and the History, that Zarqowi is merely a "Pentagon creation."
And oh, don't we need some good news now? It's so predictable I could write the OP Orders.Â*Â*
It's all bullshit LIES paraded around for PR exploitation.
- I find it disturbing that people STILL fall for this crap.
- It's unspeakably cruel to do this to military families who must keep hoping that THIS TIME it means something real for them.
For that alone, I hope Rumsfeld burns in hell or some equivalent for eternity.
You get the idea, it's a horrible day for the kooks, aka the Democrat's base, they hate seeing something good happen for the country.
Wrecks their entire political agenda.

Looks pretty damn dead to me.
There's an F-16 bombing camera video that's been shown of the strike.Â*Â*I'm trying to find a link for it.
http://us.news3.yimg.com/us.i2.yimg.com/p/ap/20060608/capt.7a6fcc3680444893bc8653ef55dd4a18.iraq_al_zarq awi_ny133.jpg?x=380&y=262&sig=BnXk1UBuZxNyZlA4jPVDtA--
This still shot video image is the actual strike.
Zaqarwi airstrike video. (http://www.mnf-iraq.com/zarqawi/video/Zaqarwi_Clip.wmv)
Score another one for the USAF, Viper and General Dynamics.Â*Â*These pilots are heroes of the highest magnitude.
EDIT: This photo is being displayed on mainstream websites and news organizations.Â*Â*If Yahoo, AP and countless others can run this photo in conjunction with news stories, it's proper posting material.

PAD, you should put that in a link so people aren't forced to look at a dead body with warning.
Though, unlike your comments in response, you took the most insane liberals you could find and still did not find one saying it was a miserable day. A few extremists don't believe it, but not one indicated any sadness that, if the reports were true, he was dead.

Did anyone hear if they had the sense to paint the bombs with pig fat before dropping them?
Zarqawi's dead, who's next on the list of murdering animals to follow him?

Thats not the way the majority of democrats feel about this, you have just searched for the most completely radical comments on the situation.
I don't think this will bring any serious stop to the violence in Iraq. His death is a great moment for every American and Iraqi.

I guess Bush doesn't exist either and he is a ficticious characeter. Over at DU you can't see anyone celebrating in that thread at all. It's really disturbing that a positive thing for the war has happened and they act like it's not good. However when a big terrorist bomb goes off and 50 people die they almost seemed overjoyed with glee. They gloat over how many dead there are and that we need to pull out now. It's rather sickening.
I just can't understand some of the leftist reasoning.

DU and Dailykos aren't mainstream. They are just gathering places for the MOST hardcore radical liberals. I havent read the comments on DU but on dailykos they are just trying to prove that it didnt happen, they just cant believe that something good happened.

I don't think it will make a difference in terms of the insurgency. If you want to know more, and can't figure it out from my previous posts, then I guess you'll never know.

Yeah I didn't say DU was the normal person. I only mentioned it's members without any affiliation or attack on a party. It goes without saying they are leftist radicals.
Zo...I do think this will make a difference in the insurgency. For one it does appear that Zarqawi was sold out by his own people. This is really important. The mafia in America took a big hit when it's own people started to flip for the prosecutors. I think mainstream Iraqi's are tired of the bloodshed. I think the insurgents have members that know they can get paid well by turning in a few leaders. If the insurgency continues on it's current path it will become a small radical group that won't effect the overall freedoms of the Iraq people. Sort of like how the terrorists are in Israel yet life goes on very well there. Ultimately terrorists imho are part of thee daily decor in the Middle East and those that live there are simply immune to it.
Today was a good day.

Well, Zarqawi is not the insurgency. He represents one aspect of it. Many groups hate him because of the attacks on civilians, including both nationalist and non-terrorist religious insurgent groups. There has even been fighting among them due to these issues, as the non-terrorist aspects tend to be more Iraqi while the groups like Zarqawi's were more international.
His death only effects those who supported him and worked with him in the insurgency, not the majority of insurgents. And those it effects were the most radical, the least likely to be affected by removing a figurehead in my opinion. I see maybe a mild to moderate effect on Al qaeda in Iraq, possibly a small drop in terrorist attacks, but no real effect on the insurgency as a whole. A drop in beheadings and such will be noticeable in the media, but not on the ground.
Though if a more moderate leader in the group arises, even though it may sound good, it could be a disaster. If they're more controlled and less prone to senseless killing of civilians it may aid them in the PR department, possibly making them deadlier and more effective in actually fighting the coalition.

Sorry bout that,
1. This just proves that I am correct that the Democratic Party has to Die.
2. They have lost any moral compass for what is good for this War on Terror.
3. With the likes of their leadership, Kerry being the top moron, they are less than useful to American.
4. Clinton started the slow death of the Democrats, opening up the door for all these jerks to come in.
5. It Must Die.

Labrocca, yourself, PAD, Bobby, and Nathan can celebrate all you want to.Â*Â*However, we are no closer to stabilizing Iraq than before Zarqawi was killed.Â*Â*The death and chaos will continue.Â*Â*Our troops will continue to be picked off one-by-one and return to Iraq for their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tours perhaps fatal tour of duty.Â*Â*You guys have descended into warmongering cheerleaders.
You guys look at this like its a make believe game or perhaps you believe the killing of Zarqawi is light at the end of the tunnel---but the lidght you see is really an on coming train out of control.Â*Â*You best believe Zaraqawi will be replaced.Â*Â*Nothing like killing roaches using a 357 magnum for each roach.Â*Â*This is how Bush is prosecuting this illegal Iraq war.
Since Bush illegally invaded a soverign nation and lied America into war, our casualties now number over 2,440 men and women killed and over 16,000 maimed for life unable to return to the battle field; we don't know how many soldiers died in the operating rooms from their wounds suffered in Iraq.Â*Â*At this rate we are loosing on avg 2 to 3 soldiers per day!!!!!Â*Â*
A couple of months ago, Bush slipped up during a news conference when asked "How long will the troops remain in Iraq?" and his response was the next President would have to decide when and how to bring our troops back home.Â*Â*At this rate Bush has around 545 days left in office, our troops are dying 2 to 3 per day so with conservative estimates we could loose another 6,000 troops or as many as 13, 625.
80% of the Iraqi's want our troops out of their country and 47% of the Iraqi population believes it is alright to kill our troops.Â*Â*There is a Civil War going in Iraq and our soldiers are caught in the middle.Â*Â*The Iraq war is costing over $4 Billion per MONTH.Â*Â*The Iraq war is being charged on a credit card with interest.
Its time to bring our troops home and let the Iraqi's go thru their growing pains and run their own country.
Well guys, keep celebrating toast and drink a cup of blood with each other in honor of the blood spilt by our troops and innocent iraqi's.Â*Â*You guys are a real piece of WORK!!!

Sure we are. We're half-a-dozen dead terrorists closer to a final solution.Â*Â*Yeah, I know exactly what that sounded like, it sounded like I was advocating the total extermination of the terrorist species.
There's nothing wrong with that goal.
As for cheering, we should have dropped a MOAB on Al Zarquawi when he was holed up in that ancient mosque all the soft heads were moaning over.Â*Â*He would have been dead two years sooner, some people would have been able to keep their heads, and the terrorists would have been shown that while Allah is no respecter of persons, we're no respecter of Allah, and that if Allah wants to protect his favorite terrorists he's going to have to do a better job.
The death of Zarquawi is definitely an event on the order of "what took 'em so long?".
Sure, Zarquawi will be replaced.Â*Â*We can't kill all the terrorists if they don't step up and let us know who they are, right?Â*Â*So we kill the lead dog.Â*Â*Two or three smaller dogs show up trying to take his place.Â*Â*Hopefully there'll be some fratricide, since these animals have their pecking orders, and then we'll be facing one or two new self-proclaimed leaders, with a less efficient organization, to pick off.
The nature of cellular infiltration is that the cells on one side don't know who's in the cells on the other side.Â*Â*Take out the leadership and the organization loses cohesion.Â*Â*

Gulf WarÂ*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â* 293
The US Civil War lasted 4 years, yielding an average death rate of 382 per day.
WWII lasted 3 1/2 years, yielding an average death rate of 319 per day.
The Gulf War lasted 4 days, yielding an average death rate of 73 per day.
Sorta puts that awful 3 dead per day in persepective, don't it?
A couple of months ago, Bush slipped up during a news conference when asked "How long will the troops remain in Iraq?" and his response was the next President would have to decide when and how to bring our troops back home.Â*Â*At this rate Bush has around 545 days left in office, our troops are dying 2 to 3 per day so with conservative estimates we could loose another 6,000 troops or as many as 13, 625.
Yeah, that was a slip alright.Â*Â*The occupation of both Japan and Germany took about 15 years each.Â*Â*For Bush to say it will be a matter for his successor to determine is wildly optomistic.
80% of the Iraqi's want our troops out of their country and 47% of the Iraqi population believes it is alright to kill our troops.
Are these numbers rectal in origin, or do you have a formal source?
There is a Civil War going in Iraq and our soldiers are caught in the middle.Â*Â*The Iraq war is costing over $4 Billion per MONTH.Â*Â*The Iraq war is being charged on a credit card with interest.
No, it's not a civil war.Â*Â*It really seems to be more of disgruntled gorrilla action at the moment.Â*Â*The potential is there for a civil war, that's the main reason why US troops are in place still.Â*Â*But there's no identified faction formerly acknowleging their sponsorship of the current round of baby killings and cowardly bus bombings as a tactic of establishing their own defined government in Iraq.Â*Â*It's mostly terrorist driven anarchical urgings, is all.
Its time to bring our troops home and let the Iraqi's go thru their growing pains and run their own country.
That's very much like the obstetrician saying to the mother, "the baby's coming out ass-backwards, I'm going to let it grow some and let the baby live it's own life."
Well guys, keep celebrating toast and drink a cup of blood with each other in honor of the blood spilt by our troops and innocent iraqi's.Â*Â*You guys are a real piece of WORK!!!
Well, understanding the whole picture in perspective makes the blood tastier, I must say.Â*Â*Nothing like the fresh blood of terrorists to make the bacon taste better.

I'd much rather fight an small group of enemies than to take actions that mean I'm going to have to fight a group that constantly replenishes it self. It saves iraqi lives, american lives, and american money. The u.s. government seems to understand that concept but doesn't know how to implement it properly.
