Giuliani....I really wanted not to like him. He surprised me.Â*Â*Impressed me that he knew the difference between Sunni and Shia.

Paul.......so far, the man has my vote! Smart and wants to stick to the constitution.

McCain.....if you want Bush the second, vote for him.

Hunter and Huckabee.....strong on the enviorment.

Tancredo......strong on immigration, but that's not my #1 priority.

Brownbeck......too far right.

Romney....too slick for me.

None of the others impressed me.

All in all they were more prepared than the Democrats, stuck to the subject and answered the questions asked of them.

I'd have to agree with what you said overall Lily. I especially wanted to say also how much I didn't want to like Guiliani, but he did quite well. I don't know about Paul though, but I will say overall that the Republican debates were far more impressive than the democratic debates.

It looked to me a good bit like the "British Upper-Class Twit of the Year" competition from Monty Python.

Mr. Ron Paul does have a certain appeal to me....for a Republican anyways.

Same here micfranklin, I've been reading about him on different forums, but never enough to make an opinion. I was disappointed it seemed like he was getting the soft ball questions though.......but he did impress me, might even get my vote if he makes it that far.

Paul is cool. I just wish he wasn't such a border nazi... Better than the rest, that's for sure.

Who won the debate?

Hillary.

If this is as good as the GOP has, it's the Queen Bee in a walkover.

I liked Tancredo the best and Paul had strong views too. I am looking for Fred Thompson to step up to the plate anytime now.

Romney was very impressive to me, the others, with the obvious exception of Dr. Paul were not.

I'll definitely take Paul over Clinton any day of the week.

Are you kidding? She's sunk herself already. Not a chance. I can see why you guys like Giuliani. He's a lib in conservative clothing. Like Bobbylein. If Fred Thompson will honestly walk in Reagan's shoes I'd vote for him in a heartbeat, but I just haven't seen enough about him yet to make a decision. Brownbeck would be my second. Either one will take a back seat to a good Independent candidate though.

A walk in Reagan's shoes? I'm going to have to respectfully disagre, Mayberry. Reagan was the reason for the Republican Party's shift to neoconservatism and for the infiltration of the Religious Right into the Party. He's the reason why the Republican Party is no longer the Party of Barry Goldwater...Goldwater is the man who's shoes RP candidates should be walking in. Until then I'll continue to vote for the lesser of two evils. Giuiliani, Romney and obviously Dr. Paul [who is the best candidate in the race, imo] are ultimately less anti-liberty than Hillary and Barrack.

Was anyone else watching the debate hoping that Chris Matthews would choke on his own tongue? It would have been a much better debate without a moderator with an agenda.

WOW. Rudy Giuliani has absolutely no shame, what he did to Congressman Paul tonight was unforgivable. I'm not sure who else saw it, but Paul was asked whether or not our tradition of foreign policy non-intervention should have changed after 9/11. Paul said that part of the reason why we were attacked was because we were heavily involved in the Middle East, a true statement and one that is confirmed by the fact that those who attacked us said themselves that we were attacked because we were in Muslim holy land. Giuliani then takes this opportunity to claim that Paul is justifying the 9/11 attacks. Rudy's truly a dispicable person and I've lost all respect for him...Unbelievable.

I thought they were only showing it on the internet. Was it on TV? If so, I stay up pretty late, I'm going to try and catch one of the re-runs.

Yeah, it started at 9 on Fox News, I was trying not to throw things at my TV when Giuliani did what he did to Paul...Absolutely inexcusable.
