MP3 of above song: http://ia311529.us.archive.org/1/items/ArthurCollinswithVessLOssman/ArthurCollinswithVessLOssman-AllCoonsLookAliketoMe.mp3

Here's one titled "run niger run", though I can't find the complete song:

http://www.jr.com/JRMusicAlbumTracksLinks.process?RestartFlow=t&sampleURL=us/usrm/654/391654_1_20.ram?obj=v61128

To think this stuff used to sell. That song is from the early 1900's.

I found a cd filled with these songs, the title is "Bigot songs". Other songs include "Run niger run" (by one of the more famous bands of the day, telling about a black man being chased by cops, no reason given), hebrew vaudeville (mocking jews), if the man in the moon were a coon, it was the dutch (mocking the dutch), chin chin chinaman etc.

Most of the songs on this list can be found by just typing the name into google, at least that was the case for the 5 I looked up. Here's the list:

Zo, one of my favorite albums has Joan Morris singing songs from the vaudeville period to the piano accompaniment of William Bolcom on the piano. The songs are beautiful and interesting, but absolutely full of racist and what we'd call politically incorrect lines. I wouldn't play the songs for anyone else but my wife, but times have changed.

For what it's worth, "political correctness" has always been with uis, as the story of Thomas Bowdler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Bowdler) tells us.

Are they racist, along the lines of the way black people and natives were portrayed in the three stooges, or were they intentionally racist? The thing I found interesting here was that many of the songs are about bigotry against a group. Not an incidental aspect of them.

Considering the time is it really suprising.

I chalk it up to the times. What was acceptable them isn't now.

Well, I have to be a butt.

Yes, RACOONS (called "Coons" here) DO all look alike.

Now, can someone explain to me why anyone looks alike? All folks look different to me.

I like Chinese

Monty Python

(spoken)
The world today is absolutely cracked.
With nuclear bombs to blow us all sky high.
There's fools and idiots sitting on the trigger.
It's depressing, and it's senseless, and that's why...

(singing)
I like chinese,
I like chinese,
They only come up to you knees,
Yet they're always friendly and they're ready to to please.

I like chinese,
I like chinese,
There's nine hundred million of them in the world today,
You'd better learn to like them, that's what I say.

I like chinese,
I like chinese,
They come from a long way overseas,
But they're cute, and they're cuddly, and they're ready to please.

I like chinese food,
The waiters never are rude,
Think the many things they've done to impress,
There's maoism, taoism, eging and chess.

I like chinese,
I like chinese,
I like their tiny little trees,
Their zen, their ping-pong, their ying and yang-eze.

I like chinese thought,
The wisdom that Confusious taught,
If Darwin is anything to shout about,
The chinese will survive us all without any doubt.

So, I like chinese,
I like chinese,
They only come up to you knees,
Yet they're wise, and they're witty, and they're ready to please

Wo, I chumba run,
Wo, I chumba run,
Wo, I chumba run,
Ne hamma, Ne hamma, Ne hamma chi chen.

I like chinese,
I like chinese,
They're food is guaranteed to please,
A fourteen, a seven, a nine and li-chese

I like chinese,
I like chinese,
I like their tiny little trees,
Their zen, their ping-pong, their yin and yang-eze

I like chinese,
I like chinese,
(fade out....)

Never Be Rude to an Arab

Monty Python

Never be rude to an Arab,
An Isreali, or Saudi, or Jew.
Never be rude to an Irishman,
No matter what you do.

Never poke fun at a Nigger,
A Spic, or a Wop, or Kraut.
And never poke fun at at...

And just for fun, there's always the classic "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" from Monty Python's "Life of Brian" song.

Cheer up, Brian. You know what they say.
Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad.
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle,
Don't grumble, give a wistle!
And this'll help things turn out for the best...
And...

(the music fades into the song)

...always look on the bright side of life!
(whistle)

Always look on the bright side of life...
If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten!
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing,

When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps,
Just purse your lips and whistle -- that's the thing!
And... always look on the bright side of life...

(whistle)
Come on!

(other start to join in)
Always look on the bright side of life...
(whistle)

For life is quite absurd,
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow!
Forget about your sin -- give the audience a grin,
Enjoy it -- it's the last chance anyhow!

So always look on the bright side of death!
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
Life's a piece of shit,
When you look at it.

Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true,
You'll see it's all a show,
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you!

And always look on the bright side of life...
(whistle)
Always look on the bright side of life
(whistle)

I have a black coworker that will be the godmother of my children.

I have a difficult time hearing of how racist people were and are. I see racism as a tool to allow for one group of people to manipulate. Foolish.

It is unfortunate and sad.

I watched the original bad news bears a while back before seeing the new one with Billy Bob...yeah the new one is way more politically correct.

Remember the original when the black kid was introduced to the team, they all got pissed saying they dont want a niger on their team?

'All we got on this team are a buncha Jews, spics, nigers, pansies, and a booger-eatin' moron!'

I have the childrens books "Little Black Sambo" and "Little Liza and the Kinkies."

They fascinate me.

I think it plays on a place within us, that id/ego place, like blow 'em up action flicks or erotic stuff.

I will be keeping them for sure.

They are what they are, and they were published, and they exist.

And liberals book burning mentality will only make them more valuable every day as the laws of supply and demand prevail.

Yeah that's so very liberal of them. Not Conservative in the least.

I recently re-read Fahrenheit 451 and found it to describe the exact society the Sorosocialists are advocating and perpetuating today.
Everything from the Seashells, the drugs, as well as the warping and censoring of information and media. This is all being pushed by the left.
eerie!

I loved the "Uncle Remus" stories as a kid, and think they hold and some very important attitudes, lessons and philosophies which would be useful today, especially for our youth. Unfortunately they will never be shown or discussed again:( Shame.

Reality does NOT equal PC, in most cases!

I have great relationships with the blacks and Latinos that I work with, they treat me as a member of their race...THE HUMAN RACE!
I do likewise.
Some of us, have yet to learn that simple lesson.

I think you misinterpreted the book. The underlying theme of the book is that television and electronic media are destroying literature. Ever read 1984?

I remember the little black sambo books from when I was a child and I loved them! I think you're right about it playing on a place within us...whether it be for racist reasons or a heartfelt injustice of the whole slavery issue. As a kid, I just thought little black sambo was an interesting character and cute as well! lol

I realize those books aren't very PC nowadays, but they are a part of our heritage and our long walk through post slavery days. They document an entertainment history of a people.

Remember the old Shirley Temple movies where she danced with the black butler on the stairs? I loved those movies! As a child I didn't think about the racist nature of the black being subservient to the white child at all. It just seemed like a good movie at the time.

However, I do have to admit that as a white woman present day that those movies presented a simpler time...for the whites anyway. Roles were largely defined by race and class...things were clear and people knew their place. Simplistic? Definitely! Fair? Definitely not! However, our history as a people walked through those times and they shouldn't be forgotten.

I also have an appreciation for slave folkart. I have a stuffed doll of a black mammy carrying a baby in her apron pocket and she is holding an old potato masher in one hand. She is wearing a headscarf as well. I also have wooden folkart of a black boy next to a watermelon among other things. These art pieces speak of a different time...a time that was real within our history that we shouldn't forget. Some may say that this folkart is racist in nature...but I see it differently...I see it as honesty.

I'm also drawn to African masks, sculpture and so forth as well...it's an interesting and rich culture.

I went to grad school at the University of Kansas. A professor of mine there made a film you should all see. You can probably find it in Blockbuster (I did). It's called the Confederate States of America. It is a faux documentary and the premise is that the CSA won the war of secession. It's filled with "commercial breaks" featuring real products like Nig ger Hair Tobacco, Uncle Ben's Rice, and Aunt Jemima Pancakes. ;)

I watched that movie a few weeks ago. The C.S.A. was demanding reparations from Canada due to their refusal to return slaves and builting a huge wall along the border was interesting to say the least.
