I started this poll because my teacher and I were discussing the main factors that help in determining ones political ideology. We both came to the agreement that education had the largest influence on people’s ideology. So if you would be so kind as to post your education level and ideology, I would greatly appreciate it.

Are you sure your teacher meant education level? Education and socialization from parents, peers and society as a whole would seem to play the largest role.

-Libertarian ideology. Believes censorship needs to be gone, gun rights cannot be taken away, drug war is a waste of time and money, affirmative action is reverse racism, etc.

I tend to agree with education having a great effect on one's politics, colleges being the liberal indoctrination camps they are. On that note, I am a lowly high school graduate, and ex-Navy Gas Turbine Systems Technician. (I qualified for the nuclear program, but declined) I have continued my education on my own, studying subjects that interest me. All things considered in this age of the Bachelor's Degree becoming the new high school diploma, I feel I am smarter than the average bear, and fairly articulate to boot. And this background has made me, as Chess so eloquently put it, a "rough and tumble Conservative."

I'm similar: A junior in college, also libertarian. Specifically, I'm of the Lysander Spooner or Murray Rothbard variety. Yes, even libertarians have a range of views- believe it or not.

37, graduated with a BA double major PSC/SY, close to a BS in Computer Science.

I like Jefferson's ideas. Capitalist that admires Adam Smith but not sold out to him.

I guess you can say I'm practical classic liberalism. With some reservations.

Cuz third party candidates don't win. Why throw away your vote on someone you know has no chance to win from the start.

The only reason they can't win is because of this thought process. If people voted for who they wanted instead of being worried about "throwing away" their vote they'd stand a chance.

Also, why give your vote to someone who doesn't deserve it? IMHO, it is better not to vote at all than to vote for someone you don't like just because you think they have a higher chance of winning. Candidates can't tell why you vote (secret ballot), so they will assume that you love everything about them and support all their programs.
